Excellent! I did not have a spring form pan so I lined a square glass pan with foil and buttered the sides real well. And I used 2 T of coffee from my leftover pot this morning instead of the powder, and it was perfect. Other than that I followed the recipe exactly and it was delicious. Be sure to let sit to room temp before eating or the caramel can be a little hard to chew. It was great at the end of the night with both port wine or coffee. I will make this again and again!

I followed the recipe exactly, and it came out PERFECT. Instead of cutting them into big bars, I cut them into bite size pieces and placed them in cupcake liners to serve. It was a bit like candy! I think that it is so rich and satisfying that it can serve a crowd if you offer it in bite size pieces. Very easy to make. I melted the chocolate in the microwave in two 30 second bursts, mixing well each time. then added the espresso. Also, Giada's directions of making caramel was the easiest I've ever tried! This recipe is a keeper!

I loved these! The crust did seem a bit buttery, but I did not find it to be soupy per say. I think next time I'd try one stick of butter instead to see if that helps. I did not have any problems with graininess either. I did not stir much if that helps. I also did not have espresso powder but the chocolate was great even without it. Next time I might top with some nuts to make it like a turtle!

These are so good but when we made them the crust seemed soupy with 1 1/2 sticks of butter. We cut back to 6 TBs but should have done 7-8. Has anyone else had trouble with the crust being soupy.
The caramel was good but a little grainy --any suggestions, more stirring or less when cooking the caramel?

Very much worth trying again to perfect them!!

Great concept of flavors and I love all things Giada, but this one was surprisingly a bit too sweet. Great in very small doses, but after two bites, it's all the sweet I can take! I've made them twice for different occasions. Easy and fun to make, but did I mention they are really sweet!

This dessert is wonderful. Just the right balance of flavor. Chewy caramel, buttery crust and decadent chocolate. Yes there are several steps to making the dessert, but none of them are hard and the results are well worth it. Giada does it again!

It was easier than I thought it was going to be. My kids made the crust. I used kosher salt because it's what I had and it really did bring out the flavors of chocolate and the caramel. I wouldn't leave it out.

I didn't have espresso powder on hand so I made some coffee and used a little less cream. Came out amazing. Easter Dinner is going to be a good one this year!

PS you can get smoked sea salt online and those high shelf specialty shops. Cheaper online.

I love the combination of flavors of caramel, chocolate and salt! I used regular sea salt because I had that on hand. The homemade caramel was less complicated than I would have thought and the end result was delicious. One question, does anyone know where to find smoked sea salt?

Made these same day recipe aired. They turned out great! The chocolate ganache with the espresso powder was ridiculously good. This recipe is a keeper!! Thank you Giada.
