I saw this recipe and have always loved Giada's recipes. This one had lemon juice, I thought "refreshing". I had to put a pound of cheese in to tone down the lemon, WAY WAY too puckery. I will never make this again. Very disappointed and it has way to much fat, 12 tablespoons butter -- 2-1/2 cups cream! I will go back to the way I made it before, much better and less fat.

I agree with everyone else when they say there was too much lemon. It just overpowers the whole dish, and it's disappointing. If I ever try to make this again, I will add lemon later on & add by taste testing.

For years, I've made a serviceable fettuccine. Not bad, fairly simple, but always a little grainy for my taste. I decided to try this recently and completely fell in love with it. Now I admit, my 10 year old son has an incredibly blessed palate ("needs more cilantro, Mom;" "you should have used smoked Paprika, Mom" -- that sort of thing, and he agrees with other reviewers that there's too much lemon. Still, my older, fairly corrupt palate thinks it's a lovely, light touch. We've compromised now, though, and I use half the amount of the lemon juice but retain the zest. Occasionally I'll saute up some chicken to add because my son needs the protein, or throw in steamed broccoli for the veggie aspect. But whether I do or don't, it is a lovely dish.

Last year for christmas I decided to mix it up and do an Italian themed dinner. I used this recipe as one of three main courses. It was SO GOOD! And the easiest dish in the spread by far. I got tons of compliments. The only down-side was that it all got eaten and everyone was sad not to get to take any home for leftovers.

I add a package of Cream Cheese to the sauce and about half or little to no lemon juice and its amazing! The cream cheese makes it more creamy

I added shrimp, cherry tomatoes and asparagus and it tasted great with the lemon flavor in the sauce!
