The addition of lemon makes this the perfect "Alfredo" for me.

I just finished eating this amazing recipe and everyone in the house was raving about it. I read the reviews about the lemon flavor and squeezed a half of a lemon into the sauce. I also still used the zest and it was not overpowering. I used dried pasta because I did not have any fresh fettuccine. I seasoned the sauce to taste with a little garlic salt and powder. I also sauteed some chicken and sun dried tomatoes in olive oil, fresh garlic, shallots and salt & pepper to taste. Mixed it all together and had a amazing dinner. : Thanks Giada

I made this recipe today and it turned out great. However, I read through many reviews first and made some alterations. It was noted on one review that there is a mistake in this recipe compared to the one in her cookbook...
1/2 cup lemon juice should be 1 tablespoon and 2 teaspoons lemon zest should be 1 teaspoon.
After reading all the reviews on how strong the lemon flavoring was and how horrible it tasted I decided to take this persons word. I am so glad I did! The alfredo still has the hint of lemon taste but without being over powering.
I also decided to add 1 clove of garlic and some grilled chicken for more flavor.
In the end it came out wonderful!

I may this today it it was really good. I took the advice from the reviews and omitted the lemon. I added chicken and it was a nice touch. I will make this again and I will try it with the lemon one time just to see how I like.

This was absolutely delicious! I made the recipe exactly as written and after tasting it without any additions - it was wonderful! - I decided to add in some frozen spinach I had warmed and some chicken cubes cooked in olive oil. So amazingly good and I didn't think the lemon juice/zest was overpowering at all either with or without my additions. I will definitely be making this many more times!

I like this recipe EXCEPT for the lemon zest part. Me and my boyfriend both found the lemon to be an odd distraction from the creamy part of the Alfredo sauce. Cut out the lemon zest and I think it would be just fine.

Very lemony! Is it a Naples thing? I may cut down on the lemon next time. Loved the white pepper and nutmeg mix. May add some garlic next time as well. Great technique for the sauce!

This recipe was awesome! After reading the reveiws, I added only 1/2 of lemon juice and no zest. I also added chicken and broccoli. My kids and husband loved it and I cant wait to try it with seafood next time!
