Any suggestions for ways to use the left-over almond paste?

Almond paste can be found in the baking section of most grocery stores. I'm definitely going to try this recipe: it has some of my favorite flavors in it!

Evev though I made some mistakes this recipe is a keeper in terms of flavor. Since it was a hot day today, I tried to save a step and use frozen pie crust. It became soft very quickly while I was working with it and the crimped edge broke while baking and alot of the filling oozed out. Next time I will try making Giada'a crust, or at least keeping the dough very cold until baking, leaving more of an edge, and possibly cooking in a quiche pan or tart pan to reinforce the sides so they do not break. But again, the flavor is fabulous and this is a great use for fresh figs!

This is a very good dessert. It cost a lot to make, I thought so I will save it for special occasions. The crust was very good I will use it for other pies. I used greek figs dried and reconstituted them it was very messing cutting them up--I need some tips for that. But the flavor was very, very good and different from any other dessert. Next time I think I will use cream cheese instead of mascarpone b/c it's cheaper.

I tried this recipe because I had fresh figs and my cookbooks were packed in the garage. The rustic crust was so light and crisp. The almond paste base for the figs ...absoutely divine. But neither took the center stage away from the figs. It was fairly quick, easy and delicious. My first 2 stops at the grocery stores were unsuccessful finding the marscapone so I used cream cheese instead. It was still great. Try it !

Our fig tree produced more figs than ever this year. I made this recipe four times so far this summer, served it at various dinner parties, receiving rave reviews from all my guests. Everyone has asked me to share the recipe. I did not make my dough, I used Pillsbury pie crust (rolled, comes two to a box and it still turned out delicious. Very easy to make.

My family LOVED this. I saw some fresh figs at the market today and happened to remember the almond paste. My 4 year old helped me with the dough (excellent!!!
and putting it together. We did not want to stop eating it and I'm thinking I might have to be like Nigella and eat some in the middle of the night.

Just picked very large, sweet, ripe figs in NC backyard and followed this recipe without ANY modifications. Wife and I both absolutely loved it! Will be doing another very soon.

I made this and it was fabulous! Actually had to make another due to family demand!

Used Greek dried figs, and simmered them with some sweet Marsala, strips of orange zest and a cinnamon stick. (Honestly, I do this anyway for easy dessert/pork saute/chopped for cookie filling Can't WAIT to make this in August with figs from our trees!

This second-generation Italian highly recommends this recipe! Crostatas RULE!
