I have to say, I was a bit intimidated by this recipe. But after reading the reviews, thought I'd try it. I took one persons advice and used Limoncello instead of orange juice - I'll probably NEVER use orange juice now!!! These were FABULOUS, and everyone who tried them LOVED them! Most people where hesitant ("fig and what?", but I just said if they like Fig Newtons, they will probably like them. And they did!!
Thank you Giada and Food Network!!

These cookies were tasty, but they were really too big. We found ourselves wanting to cut them in half for the right portion size. The filling was tasty and the pastry dough was easy to work with.

Great recipes, but is anyone but me wondering how this woman could possibly eat what she cooks?! She must not weight 100 lbs, for God's sake!

These cookies are excellent! They are easy to make and super tasty!! Since I'm not a big fun of honey, I only used an enough amount just to make the filling stays together. I also made only a half amount of cookie dough and it was still plenty. I found their shapes are kind of boring, so I cut out dough rounds, place the fillingd in the middle of the doung, leaving a room border around the edge. Bring the edges of the pasty up over the filling and place star shaped cookie dough on top of them. They looked really pretty!
Don't forget to brush the exposed pasty edge with the egg glaze, too! Have fun with it!! :-

At long last I have found the cookie recipe my grandmother use to make for Easter and Christmas each year. She never left a written copy. I have morned the lost of that cookie taste on Christmas day for many years but thanks to Giada it is back! My grandmother did drizzle some icing over the top so that is how I did it.
Thanks so much!!

The cookie made me remember Italy! My "tasters" varied their opinions, but I thought they were great. The dough was a little sticky even after chilling.
The filling was beyond Words!!!
