This was a nice change from ordinary chicken - I would have never thought to use fennel seeds like this - and it was great. Also easy. Yes, cook the chicken on low grill heat at first, then grill high to get it nice and brown before taking off grill to keep it juicy. The basil dressing was a nice touch to the chicken. I didn't measure the lemon juice, just squeezed a lemon, and that was too much, but I added some agave - so it was perfect. Great summer dish !!!!

Since the chicken in marinated in olive oil, the grill can't be too hot. But the final product is so worth it!! My go-to grilled chicken recipe! It's amazing!

Oh my gosh, I've made this several times and just discovered that I haven't rated it...this is dish is absolutely fantastic! I especially love the basil dressing...for the chicken, for salad, for just about everything. Can't wait to start making it again this summer!

Absolutely the tastiest chicken EVER! I make this periodically and am NEVER disappointed. Last night, I had no fennel seed, but it did not detract from the deep flavor of the other ingredients! The best!!

Excellent! Very tasty and the chicken was tender. The only thing diffrent that I would do is cut bac on the salt and cook the chicken a bit longer. Will make again! Thanks Giada!

I made this recipe with Japenese quail. I followed the directions to the t and it was perfect. The bright basil dressing over the beautiful grilled whole quail made a beautiful presentation. Wish I could upload my photo!
