I've made this over and over again. I don't use the saffron. (We didn't care for the flavor. I will attest that the stock cooks out in the orzo so I'm going to use an extra cup and see if that helps next time. It's a very refreshing dish and pretty easy to cook up! Prep takes the longest, but it is extremely worth it!

I have yet to do this recipe with the grilled meats and veggies. I have cooked the saffron orzo twice and it is very good. I didn't have to drain the orzo, as it pretty much absorbed all the chicken stock.

I made this for a family dinner for 6 big eaters, and we had just the right amount of leftovers for lunch the next day.
We grilled inside on the grill pan just like she did and it works great, just gets a little smokey.
The Saffron didn't make that much of a difference in flavor (that WE could discern...but maybe our pallets just aren't that well developed.
Marinade is fantastic, I will use it for a lot of other dishes!

The flavors were so good together, It was tart from the lemon, but was not overpowering. The only difference was, I put some of the marinade into the orzo, instead of adding the ingredients the way Giada did. Very good.

This one is a keeper! Our family loved it! The marinade gave a wonderful flavor to everything, especially the chicken and shrimp. Easy prep and cooking. Thanks, Giada :

I made this a couple weeks ago, the same day that I saw it, and it was the perfect dish for entertaining. Everything was done beforehand, I was amazed at the lack of "stuff" to do once my guests arrived, which is not par for the course for me. Great taste, although I don't know whether the saffron, which I've only had once or twice before, helped or hindered the taste in my opinion. Nice rustic look to it, all piled in the bowl, just waiting for folks to dive in and eat up.
