I am consistenly thrilled with the quality of food and ease of execution in Giada's recipes. This was no exception! I LOVED this soup, and that is really saying something considering tomato soup is one of my absolute favorites and I have eaten it in many restaurants.

What really makes this soup incredible is the lemon zest. I could not find creme fraishe so I just put the zest directly into my bowl of soup and added a teaspoon of heavy cream. Each bite that had some zest in it was divine. Who would have thought?! I will absolutely make this again, and even for company! Thank you Giada!

This tomato soup is easy and delicious. The only thing, even though I love spicey food, the amount of red pepper flakes seemed too much, so I reduced it to 1/4ts. Even then I added a bit of honey at the end to help difuse the heat. I also added about 1/4ts. crushed fennel seed. Used the immursion blender to puree.
    Definitely a keeper.

I couldn't find creme frache so used light sour cream in it's place. I

This soup was excellent!!!! The carrots, garlic and onions alone, made the house smell incredible. I did make some changes though: I didn't use fresh herbs, only dried. I also didn't use the lemon or creme frachie. Instead, I added a dollop of sour cream to each bowl at serving time. I also used the Magic Bullet to puree the soup versus putting it in the blender. The changes I made, shouldn't have made a difference in the true flavor, which was out of this world YUMMY!!! It was a nice compliment to a cold/wet day and I served this with crusty Artisan bread. Thanks for such wonderful recipes.

What a winner! I also added a potato which gave it more of a hearty flavor.

I didn't have carrots or creme fraiche, so I used 2 tablespoons of sugar to make up for the sweetness that the carrots would have provided and I mixed some mascarpone with sour cream in place of the creme fraiche. The lemon zest gave this soup such a nice light flavor. The taste and texture were perfect after I added in the mock creme fraiche. It makes a great diet dish - low fat and relatively low cal. Next time, I'll cut back on the red pepper a little bit, but other than that I wouldn't change a thing in this recipe.

Thank you for this wonderful version of tomato soup! I just made it and love all the flavors. I was worried before I blended everything together that it wouldn't have the right consistancy because it looked so thin. I chose to trust in the recipe and not to my surprise it turned out perfect. My husband loves tomato soup, but really no other vegtables, so it's also a perfect way to sneak something healthy into his diet without him realizing! THANK YOU!!

A big hit and so simple. The lemon makes it one of the freshest and tastiest soups I've ever had.
