It was delicious! I added extra garlic, fresh oregano and chives from my garden. I also throw in some chopped arugula that is abundant in my garden tear round. I think I'll try it with Italian sausage next time....always fun to try something new!

Ok, so I'm not sure how this recipe got such high reviews. It doesn't work if you follow as written. The recipe calls for 1c pastina, however in the demo, she uses elbows. BIG DIFFERENCE in size, shape, texture, and amount you net after cooking. I ended up with 4 cups of pasta. Also, the recipe calls for 1/2c chicken - this equals 4oz. Recipe is supposed to serve 4 - so if I follow correctly, they get 1c of pasta and 1oz of chicken each??? I think this is poorly written and the measurements are way off. Also, if you list something like pastina - which is a teeny tiny star shape but use elbows, you need to note that in the recipe and adjust the dry quantity. I had to add more chicken as when I was chopping and measuring, I knew 10 pieces of chicken just for one person, let alone 2-3 or more would not be enough. I used a whole small onion too.

Giada - your recipes are usually fantiastic, this one, not so much without alot of revisions.

At first I wasn't crazy about this but I added red pepper flakes and then I thought it was really good and different.

Like someone else noted it is a bit bland and next time I will add a little more salt. Still it is tasty. I decided to try and make it without the chicken and added frozen peas and carrots. Worked very well, I just sauteed the vegi's with the onion and garlic, didn't completely cook them up either and when it came out of the oven the vegi's weren't too soft or mushy. I will be trying this one again.

This was a super easy recipe, but came out bland because I followed the directions exactly. It's just missing some serious Italian flavor. It was good, just a bit bland like I said... My kids who are picky eaters scarfed it down though. :

i wanted something different for dinner tonight and this was the ticket. I didn't follow recipe exactly tho. I substituted tomato sauce in place of the diced tomatoes (not a big fan of chunks of cooked tomatoes so I used 1 28oz and 1 14 oz can of tomato sauce and I added, oregano, basil, red pepper flakes and Italian seasoning to it. I also used 1 package of chicken tenderloins and seasoned them with salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder then sauteed in EVOO until browned (gives lots more flavor to chicken. Insead of pastina I used cellantani pasta (cork-screw shaped. I will definitely make this again! Thanks for the recipe Giada even tho I put my own spin on it.

Italian baked macaroni, only with chicken added! Super easy and super delicious. Definitely use the diced tomatoes with seasonings.

I made this last night and it is extremely quick and easy to put together! I read the reviews beforehand and added to the recipe. I used a rotisserie chicken to cut time :D Here's what I did: I combined 1/2 lb farfalle pasta, diced rotisserie chix, 1 14.5oz can of garlic fire-roasted diced tomatoes, 1 14.5oz can of garlic, oregano, & basil diced tomatoes, 1/2 cup parsley, 1.5 cups of mozzarella, sautéed whole diced onion and 4 garlic cloves, 1 small can of tomato sauce, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp pepper, 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning, 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes. Add to 13"x9" buttered dish. Then mixed 1/2 cup Italian seasoned Panko bread crumbs with 1/2 cup grated Locatelli cheese and sprinkled on top. Then, I added 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese and dots of butter throughout the top. Cover with foil and bake at 400 for 25 min. Then remove foil and let brown for 5-10 more minutes. Viola, and just like that an easy, delicious meal!!

This turned out really tasty. I added more chicken and used fire roasted tomatoes. I had two helpings I initially thought that it was bland, but my boyfriend liked it.
