I don't know where I could of gone wrong, but my cookies did not look anything like when I watched the show.?. I actually did not care for the taste either. The orange zest in the icing was a great idea, but overall had to rate this one not so good.

This recipe is probably a little tougher than what you see on TV. Because there is no liquid to bind this dough together the rolling process is very frustrating. I did find (after 3 trys of rolling unsuccessfully that if you leave the dough in the spring pan (which I used and press again, just cut the cookie and remove one by one and place on baking sheet. It will take about two seperate batches but the shape will be nice. This batter is just to crumbly to roll out. Actual cookie is just ok in my opinion. Much to grainy for a cookie.

I made these for a dinner party and ended up not serving them. They were too gritty and far too buttery. The edges crumbled and were difficult to frost. I thought the frosting was too buttery and ended up modifying by adding more powdered sugar and a T. of orange juice.

    I wouldn't make again.

I tried this recipe thinking it was going to be great. It looked and sounded delicious, but the taste was really disgusting. The filling was way too buttery and the cookie was very gritty. The process was lengthy and time consuming and the outcome was disappointing. Don't even bother!

This one was a little hard. The flavor was great. But my first batch was scrap. I did something wrong. But I have another batch waiting to finish. This has a wonderful taste.

Needed a treat for a girls night in. After reading the reviews, I cut the polenta down to only 1/4 cup. The cookies were still light and crispy, but not as gritty as some had described when using the full amount. Also, instead of rolling out the cookies and using a cookie cutter, I found it much easier to wrap the dough in plastic and roll it into a log. Then, I chilled the dogh and sliced the cookies off into perfect circles. No crumbly mess!!! As for the filling, I added amaretto, orange zest, orange juice and a spoon of cocoa poweder and it whipped up just fine. Not my favorite cookie of all time, but a semi-sweet treat for anyone that likes chocolate and orange!

I really wanted to try this recipe but, after seeing all the reviews below, decided to watch the TV show once more to make sure the on-line recipe was completely correct ~~ it wasn't. You have to: Cream the butter and sugar for a while, 3 minutes or so minimum, until the sugar is fully incorporated and the mix is fluffy and very light yellow. Otherwise, the dough will fall apart. Add the dry ingredients slowly in three separate batches (as Giada did on the show and keep mixing with the electric mixer (not a wooden spoon until the batter is smooth and shiny ~~ about 6 minutes. Don't refrigerate overnight or the batter will get too hard ~~ 30-60 minutes is just right. Roll out the dough to 1/8 inch so the cookies will not be too big and will become "lacy" when cooked ~~ otherwise they're quite boring looking. Grease the baking sheet or line it with a baking mat (preferable and bake the cookies for *10* minutes max. After cooking, place the baking sheet on wire racks that allow air to circulate below the baking sheet ~~ don't try to remove the cookies from the baking sheet until they are completely cooled! Use 8 oz. of cream cheese instead of butter for the filling and it will be yummy but double the filling recipe if you want your cookies to look like the photo. Mine turned out great, but I probably won't try this recipe again ~~ way too much work for a less-than-spectacular result.

I was so excited to make these cookies. They looked delicious on the show. However, they just fell apart and tasted terrible.

I watched this episode the other day and thought the cookies looked really good and fairly simple to make. When I actually made them it was a different story. I followed the recipe however after I put the dough in the freezer and then went to roll it out...it fell to peices and crumbs. The dough needs to be creamier or something. I wish it would have came out though because they looked really good. I may try one more time.....
