I thought these cookies were excellent. The cornmeal adds a little bit of crunch and texture which I wasn't sure if I would like but I did. The powdered sugar sweetens the butter enough and turns it into more of an icing. The orange flavor is fabulous! My family loved them!

What a waste of time and energy, not to mention money! Horrible in every sense of the word, too gritty, too buttery, not chocolatey enough. I LOVE every recipe I have used cooking wise, but this is the first baking recipe I have followed, not good. Sorry but it has to be said.

Made the cookies with medium coarseness in the cornmeal/polenta. It was too crunchy. Maybe a finer grind would have been better. My nanny did not think the chocolate and the orange complemented the flavor well.

I love the first taste you get because it tastes like a chocolate cookie, but I don't like the after taste because the cornmeal tastes really gritty.

These are excellent cookies but I would recommend that you just simply double the filling. As it is the only way to get the flavor that you expect from Giada's recipes. Also, reduce the cooking time and you will not get the "burnt" taste that someone else discussed. It will make your cookies smaller, but worth it in the end.

Love the orange chocolate taste! The cookie isn't too sweet, that's what i like!

Too much butter in the cookies, and the polenta I used was still crunchy after baking the cookies. It sticks in your teeth like eating raw grits. However, the flavor was outstanding! I will try again without polenta or with a finely ground, quick cooking variety (if there is such a thing.
