These cookies were so easy to make as long as you have the patience to chill the dough. I had a lot of dough left over so I will make them larger next time. I gave them out to our neighbors for a Christmas treat and they loved them. The orange butter creme is to die for and I did add extra orange zest just for the heck of it. Wonderful change from the ordinary.

I really like the cookie, but I think the powdered sigar for the filling should be increase to 1 3/4 cup,,, I ran out and had to make more.

I followed the recipe and had no problems. They are rich enough you don't have to eat the whole batch. delicious!

Beats the heck out of american chocolate chip cookie, that's for sure. Now, I read a lot of bad comments and thought I'm gonna give it a try. I wish now I didn't read those "helpful" reviews but stuck to Giada's recipe. I added one egg and it caused the cookies to puff up a bit (they're supposed to be flat, waffer like. And Instead of cornmeal I just added one more cup of flour (got scared about that crunch. About the mess some mentioned. No mess. It may be tricky for someone who didn't make this type of a dough (like puff pastry, a lot of butter. The secret is to work as fast as you can and to space the cookies properly on a baking sheet so they don't melt into "one big mess". Tastes wise ****1/2, calories are a killer in this recipe but it's not a diet cookie, and of course you're gonna find a lot of sugar and butter in every good recipe. People complain to much instead of trying and practicing more. Give it a try!

I wish I had read the reviews before I tried this recipe. It had been a while since I had seen the episode, so I didn't remember all of the tips - I wish they would have been written into the recipe!

The cookies were a disaster. I'll try them again using the wonderful suggestions by the reviewers and will incorporate the tips she gave on her show...

I think I used a polenta that was too coarse. I felt like I might chip a tooth trying to eat these. I shared them with several people and the taste gets good reviews. I think I will try this again sometime with finer cornmeal/polenta.

I have made this twice, with different results. I wish I had read the prior reviews as they would have helped. I referigated the dough overnight and it was very hard to roll out. 8-10 minutes is max for baking and all of my cookies had different looks, some lacy and some solid. I have never been able to get 52 cuts from the dough and I like the filling but there is not enough to fill the number of cookies, 26, to how they look in the picture. I also wished that I had creamed the butter and sugar together longer and added the dry ingredents more slowly and mixed it with a mixer and not a wooden spoon. All of my guests love them, even if they all look a little wierd.

I thought these cookies were a bit too labor intensive. I also think the directions should say you let the cookies cool for a minute or two and then remove to a wire wrack. I lost several to removal disaster. I like butter but this was a bit too rich for me and the family thought the polenta was too crunchy as well. Good idea but the results weren't what I had hoped.
