This was a fun weekend morning activity for our family. The doughnuts were such a hit with everyone. Make sure you do the doughnut holes in powdered sugar. They melt in your mouth!

This is an easy fun recipe, except I'd love to fry these another way . . . or bake them--I threw out so much oil.
My doughnuts did not look like Glada's--smaller--and it was hard to roll them--I'm a novice. I cooled the dough first . . . don't know if that was a good thing.
I was expecting them to be crunchy on the outside and doughy inside, so it disappointed when they were not crunchy. But they were good. Some of the small misc leftover pieces did get crunchy and that was delicious. The next day they tasted better. My mother loved them because even with the cinnamon sugar and chocolate dipping and almonds they aren't too sweet. The crushed chocolate covered espresso beans were fabulous on them. They kinda grew on me. I froze the leftovers and ate some after they were really cold and those tasted great also.
Each doughnut tasted a little different as far as the consistency . . .don't know why. But I will make these again.

I have not made these yet, but would like to know about using olive oil which the recipe calls for. 1/2 veg. oil and 1/2 olive oil. Does the olive effect the taste? Has anyone just used vegetable oil when making these doughnuts. Thanks for you response.

I made this for a few friends and all of them were ranting and raving about these!! I dipped some in nutella, some in powdered sugar, and others in the cinnammon sugar. I could eat this all day everyday!

The key is to find a supermarket that serves take-out pizza or local pizza shop that will sell you just the dough.

This is a great recipe for a doughnut craving. I made pizza dough from scratch and topped with the cin/sugar topping and also did some with chocolate and chopped almonds - delicious! Next time I may try store bought pizza dough because some of them developed air bubbles probably from the dough having just risen. But still wonderful.
