My hubby was aghast that I would put basil in lemonaid; begged me to make it with mint or leave the basil out. Thank goodness I stuck to my guns - this recipe was awsome!! My only suggestion is to make a double batch - everybody loved it. The basil is very subtle and surprisingly good with the lemon.

The basil was a great touch to this lemonade. It's subtle, but definitely a plus. We used sparkling water for this lemonade, then made it into a cocktail for our adult guests. It was definitely a hit! I will be making this recipe again. Thanks Giada :D

Love, Love, LOVE this lemonade!! The basil is a nice way to spice up regular lemonade. Would also be great with vodka for a little cocktail. I had to water it down a bit because it was a little strong, but very refreshing!!!

I made this Italian Lemonade for a ladies gathering I had. I personally did not like it, but everyone else did. I am not a lemonade fan. Wow was it sour. Maybe I could have used more sugar. I am also not a fan of soda water. Like I said everyone else just loved it. We had a beautiful breezy day here in San Diego, and it made a nice refreshment for all that drank it. It was a hit because the pitcher was bone dry, and asking for seconds.
I only used 10 lemons to get the 2 cups.

I just made these for the 4th of July. They were a huge hit. I added mint instead of basil to the simple syrup.
I agree with one reviewer that this drink would make an excellent cocktail!
It is so good! I did not make any other changes to the recipe.

I absolutely hate anything and everything lemon and lime flavorings, but my friend made this recipe for a baby shower and she wanted my input since I went to culinary school and she thought my opinion was worth a shot. I was at first very hesitant, but decided that since she is a friend I would have to give it a try, plus as I have learned in culinary school, you always have to try something three and four times before saying you dont like it. I absolutely loved this recipe. I had to ask her for it and plan to make it real soon. Thanks Giada, love your show.

I have been looking for a great lemonade and finally found it, simple to make and you can adjust the recipe to your taste. Try making limeade as well just wonderful, also add liquor for great cocktails. I give this recipe 10 stars. Thanks Giada!!
