I really liked the ease of these beans and overall taste. I think I would use a little less balsamic the next time I make them as I found it to be a little overpowering. I will deffinately make them again

I made this exactly as instructed - when I took it out of the oven after the 45 minutes at 400, it was so dry, it no longer resembled baked beans. Though it was very good, I HIGHLY recommend checking on it and most likely bake it for only half the time.

I made these for my dad who is a HUGE baked beans fan....he LOVED them. They were incredibly easy to make and tasted great with grilled hot dogs. Perfectly simplistic and wonderful dinner. They are savory and sweet and filling. Just as baked beans should taste.

Wonderful, we make it all the time. Especially for bbq's and superbowl parties.

Not sure what all the rave reviews are about, these were very bland. And yes I followed the recipe EXACTLY, buying a good dark beer, springing for the pricey pancetta and a good bottle of balsamic.... no substitutions in the ingredients or amounts were made at all. The only thing different about these beans from regular baked beans is that you can taste the balsamic vinegar a little. I didn't even bother serving them b/c they were so boring. These were a big waste of money.

This was the first time making baked beans, and honestly I’ve never been a fan of baked beans, but these were delicious! I made them for “family dinner night” that I host for my closest friends and we all loved it. I used bacon instead of pancetta since thats what I had on hand. Will definitely be making these again!

This was just what I was looking for. Baked beans can be so sweet and thick and often lack nuance or depth. The combination of the beer and balsamic vinegar in this recipe turns average beans into excellent beans. The pancetta gives the dish another level of flavor as well. I made this recipe a day in advance, refrigerated overnight, and then warmed up and served the next day with smoked ribs. Letting them sit overnight gave all the flavors plenty of time to blend and intensify. This is going to be my go-to baked bean recipe from now on.

Only comment would be that I will try small white beans next time so we can stretch the dish a little further; we were fighting over it we enjoyed the beans so much.

I served this dish this weekend at our annual 4th of July BBQ and they were a huge hit! Was nervous about straying from the norm for a holiday where mostly traditional foods are served (hot dogs, burgers, corn on the cob and baked beans! but it was a nice twist on the classic baked beans! Thanks G!

Man are these beans good, much better than the sickeningly sweet Boston style. We can hardly stay away from them until the 4th. They have a balance of sour vs. sweetness. They will be a part of my 'sides' favorites..
