I made this recipe for a holiday dinner party for 6 and it was a huge hit! Everybody loved it. It was a perfect match for the cold snowy weather outside. I made Tyler Florence's arugula and pomegranate as the starter which worked well because it was light (and pretty Christmas red and green colors, setting everyone up to have this rich hearty stew to follow.
I made the modification suggested by the other reviewers to add thyme (two sprigs added at the beginning. But I also added rosemary because it's such a great complement to lamb (two sprigs also added at the beginning. I also finished it off with a hearty amount of freshly ground black pepper in the last 15 minutes of stewing.
If you're looking for a winter crowd pleaser, this dish won't disappoing.

My Fiance and I had our first lamb stew while in San Francisco and have been dreaming about having it again ... I found this recipe and made it last night. All I can say is that it's better that what we had on vacation!! The meat was soo tender and all the veggies made it nice and chunky! What a treasure!
It was easy to make and it will be in my favorite recipe book from now on! Thanks Giada!!!

I made this recipe exactly as stated. It was DELICIOUS! I found the chipolline onions at my local supermarket. They really melt in your mouth. I will be using these onions in other recipes! I made this stew on a rainy day, and it was perfect for the weather. It's very thick and hearty, so it sticks to your ribs.
This recipe yields a large pot full of stew, so if you dont want to eat leftovers for 3 days, half the recipe accordingly. This is definitely staying in my favorite recipe list!
Thank you Giada!

This is such a great meal! It was very easy to make. I added artichoke hearts, and forgot to get the specific onions, so I just used a regular onion, and it was still wonderful!

Besides that it was easy to prepare, it was also very delicious! I used a lamb sirloin and it was wonderful. This is the best lamb stew on the planet! You have got to try this one. The only thing I would do differently next time is to use baby carrots instead. I also used Yellow Tail Merlot.
