It's like a mouthful of sunshine in every bite! These cookies are absolutely amazing, and I'm wondering what people did that made them not so. First off, DON'T eat them right after they come out of the oven. They taste slightly doughy and you can barely taste the citrus flavor. After they cool is when to dig in! They are a cake-like cookie that the citrus flavor really compliments. I changed the recipe slightly: lemon/orange, 1 tsp vanilla, decreased flour by 1/4 cup. Also, these cookies will NOT brown on top. Even though they don't LOOK done, if they are starting to brown at the edges, they are done.

This is an excellent cookie. My wife made a batch with the following modifications. As we have two gluten sensitive friends, she substituted oat flour for the regular flour, and she doubled the baking powder. The oat flour lent a subtle bitter earthiness to the cookies which was lovely. She took them to the friends' birthday party and they all disappeared pronto. Thanks Giada. I'd be curious to hear if you've ever tried substituting oat flour and what the results were.

I don't really understand a lot of the comments about the cookies being bland. These are so good. The cookies have a nice lemon flavor and the icing has a well balanced lemon flavor also. They are more of a cake cookie rather than a crisp or chewy. My husband likes the cake cookies so it was a home run for him. Personally I think there wonderful and will be making them again.

The whole family couldn't get enough of these. I'm not a big sweets person and these were perfect; not too sweet. I made only a few changes...1/2 tsp extra of salt, zest of an extra lemon split between the icing & batter, and 3 Tbsp of lemon juice for the icing (I really like lemons. Be careful not to over cook them of they will be dry. I iced them right out of the oven so they'd soak up all the lemon flavor.

These were really horrible. There is nothing wrong with the recipe, it comes out like it says but there is no flavor to the cookie and the texture is confusing...not a cookie, cake or scone. A complete waste of ricotta as it did nothing to enhance the taste. I even added more zest, per other reviewers recommendations, and I added vanilla extract to the batter and glaze. Won't waste my time on this again when there are so many other delicious cookie and lemon options

I decided on implementing this recipe as a mother's day treat because my mom loves citrus dessert combos. I have celiac disease, therefore, cannot eat gluten. Me being a little selfish, it was a conflict of interest to make these cookies following the recipe exactly and ultimately inedible so I took a gamble and in the process have discovered a super easy equally delicious (im assuming way to enjoy these while sticking to my gluten free diet. If you search online, there are hundreds of variations of gluten free flour mixes that require you to buy 3+ different items and measure them out and blah blah. It can be overwhelming and pricey. I found that Fresh&Easy has an AP gluten free flour mix that has a premixed concoction that you can substitute 1:1 cup in just about any recipe calling for AP flour and it won't break the bank. I did go a tiny bit easy on the baking powder and sugar because the boxed flour mix did have a little premixed in it. mom was shocked they were GF

I agree - "crack" cookies! Moist, dense, a little chewy and nice lemon favor. I made mine bigger and baked them longer. SO GOOD! A nice change form chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies that I usually make. Make these!!

These are my all time favorite cookies! I had them for the first time a few years ago. One of my friends made them for me along with a few other kinds. I could not get enough of these! I had to have the recipe! I was happy to find out it was a Giada recipe. I usually always love her stuff. I tried it out myself and the results were great! I have never had any issues making them and they always turn out so good! I'm very surprised to see some of the reviews that people don't like them! If you love lemon and you follow the recipe, you'll love these! I make them for any function that needs cookies!

Verry good and my family allways wants me to make them. Dont listen to the ppl that posted bad reviews because when I make them they turn out nice and fluffy and moist. They aren't like normal cookies though, they are like little cakes and I love them!
