Living in Iowa, it is next to impossible to find the mascarpone cheese and creme de cassis liqueur. So, I made this recipe with rapberries and instead of the mascarpone, I substituted c ream cheese with some whiiped chream and lemon ziest with some homemade lemon simple syrup. I use the lemon simple syrup instead of the liqueur. It is fabulous and cost effective. I would like to follow the reipe as written but just can't find the ingredients. It is very "fresh" and no problems with dryness like other reviews.

This receipe is easier than it appears, and it is delicious. I used a Williams-Sonoma pound cake mix, and that was an excellent (if a little bit pricey base. The lemon-scented mascarpone is wonderful.
This makes a LOT of dessert -- if you ate a sixth of it you would consumer aroune 700 calories! I think it makes 10-12 smaller, healthier servings.

this is so easy to put together, you can even make your own pound cake if you want to. it makes quite a lot, but no one seemed to mind when i made it!

Really, strawberries, jam, pound cake, and flavored whip cream would taste the same. The marscapone and alcohol can be a bit more expensive than other dishes, and substituting jam just didn't work. Giada's Toasted Poundcake with Marscapone and Amaretto was *MUCH* more tastier, unique, and heavenly.

This was a winner! The flavors blended beautifully. It was light & yummy instead of rich & heavy. The perfect feel for a dessert; Will definitely repeat this one!

This recipe is great. The dessert was very simple. Not complicated at all. Although it tasted like it would be. I've made this dessert several times and it always comes out great. Impossible to mess it up.

I made this for my mom on Mother's Day and it was a hit. The prep was very simple and fast, and the combination of fruit, pound cake and lemon marscarpone cheese really compliment each other. Also, I substituted the cassis with Torani raspberry syrup for a non-alcoholic version. I imagine that blackberry or strawberry syrup would be just as great!

Lots of berries, very light! This is a great summer dessert that is just as good for leftovers!

The only negative was that the pund cake did not pick up much of the creme de cassis flavor. Not sure why...

    Great dessert overall.

I've adapted the recipe a bit, but it's truly a hit everywhere I bring it. I just mix the Mascarpone with sugar and fresh lemon juice... with some whipped cream to thin it out. I also soak the pound cake overnight with Lemoncello... it's easier to find than creme de cassis and adds to the lemony flavor! Oh, and I mascerate the berries and use their natural juices too to keep it moist. Love it!
