These were super easy to make. I love the lemon/thyme combination and they are not too sweet, which is nice. I did cut the thyme in half to 1 Tbsp. and to me it seems to be the perfect balance of lemon and thyme. I will definitely be making these again!!

I was anxious to try this recipe because I have plenty of fresh thyme and fresh lemons. However, after following the directions precisely, I wound up with some thin bars that had the slight flavors of lemon and thyme.

I LOVED THESE BARS. HOWEVER I DID LEAVE OUT THE THYME--DIDN"T THINK MY HUSBAND WOULD LIKE THE THYME IN IT. I, TOO, MADE THEM IN THE FOOD PROCESSOR AND WAS SO EASY. MINE DID GET A LITTLE BROWN AROUND THE EDGES AND I ONLY COOKED THEM FOR 25 MINS. FOUND THEM A LITTLE STICKY TO SPREAD IN THE PAN SO I USED A BUTTER KNIIFE THAT I MOISTENED WITH WATER AND THAT WORKED REALLY WELL. I AGREE WITH OTHERS---REVIEW THE RECIPE. IF YOU DON'T LIKE GIADA, DON'T WATCH HER!!

Made this for a Spring gathering and everybody loved them. I made them vegan by replacing the butter with a substitute and everybody said they were just delicious. Not too sweet. I only added 1 tbsp of fresh thyme but I think they could have been just fine with a little more or less.

A lot of people are big lemon bars fans. I admit that I am not one of them. I never had any desire to eat a lemon bar before this recipe. It was the thyme that drew me in and really made this recipe special. They are unlike any lemon bar you have ever tasted, so much more complex, delicious, and ridiculously easy to make! I can't wait to make them again.

I made these the other nite and they turned out okay, personally a little too much lemon for my familys liking but i didnt mind. Maybe next time i'll cut down on the time a bit, but i love the idea of using herbs in baking. Will try about for Easter pot luck.....

I used wheat flour because that is all I had at the time and they turned out bad. Too flakey to even remove from the pan! The taste wasn't really what I was looking for either. I don't think I'll even attempt again with req. white flour.

I just made these for a cookout, and they were loved by everyone. While I was buttering and flouring my dish, my three-year-old daughter got a hold of my thyme to "cook" like me, so I could only salvage about 1 1/4 TB to use. I found the taste to be wonderfully earthy...a little hint of savory in a sweet dessert. I wondered if the missing thyme would have improved the bars because we loved them without it. After reading some of the reviews, I think that I have my answer and that I'll use the reduced amount when I make them again. These bars were buttery and very light, and the thyme made them look and taste a little gourmet.

I was excited to try this recipe since I love Giada's style, but took one bite and threw the rest away. They were awful. Maybe if you put just a tiny bit of thyme in the recipe you might be able to pull it off, but a better option would be to omit the thyme completely.
Now, for the lemon glaze, it's amazing and I've been able to transfer the simply recipe to many other summer desserts.

I made these today for my 4th of July get together with my family. I used the 1 1/4 tbs of thyme as everyone suggested (I doubled the recipe however since I was using a 13x9 pan as well as the extra 2 tbsp (4 for me of powdered sugar for the glaze. I can't imagine putting any more thyme than this in the recipe since it does give it a strong flavor, and even with the added powdered sugar for the glaze it still took longer than an hour to harden. I would definitely recommend taking that into account when making this! Allow more than enough time before serving. I added some lemon zest afterwards on top and it gave some extra color- don't be fooled by the picture on here since the bars don't turn out looking anything like it!! The consistency is very much like a shortbread (not cakey. The flavors are great!! Be prepared though- when my family saw all of the flecks of thyme in the bars no one really seemed to want to try them. Once they did though they kept going back for more! That being said, this dessert is probably going to be very different from what people are used to. None of the kids at the party today had any and some adults were afraid to touch it too. One of the ladies that had some said that my dessert was the best thing she had out of all the different dishes on the table! My dad liked it and called it "very different, but good!" I love this recipe so much that I will be making a batch for myself very soon since there weren't any leftover!
