The bars were just ok. I was only able to cut 12 decent sized bars for my big family. They thought the thyme was overpowering as well. The glaze took longer than 1 hour to harden. Probably won't make these again. If you want a two-bite dessert, this works. Otherwise, try another recipe.

I made these tonight while waiting for a pizza to cool... They're THAT easy. It literally took only a few moments to throw the ingredients together. The glaze is made later and also takes just a moment to pull together. I took the suggestions left by others and halfed the thyme. I don't think this gave enough thyme-flavor as the bars were quite tart. This is to be expected however, with the amount of fresh lemon juice, but the sugar does add a smooth sweet taste that complements the tart very nicely. I also made this recipe expecting "shortbread" and not the custard-y lemon bars I grew up with, so was pleasantly surprised by how great and perfectly flaky they turned out. I highly suggest this as a dessert or morning bar with a cup of strong coffee. Mmmmm......

Our children are grown, so there were just two of us for Easter Dinner. I decided to try the lemon thyme bars. What a delight! I am always looking for recipes to use the lemons from our tree and this is perfect. Thank you.

I made these with my sister for her boss. None of us liked them... The thyme is a bit overpowering. I think that next time i'll use this as a crust for a lemon-y dish instead. Definitely not my type of dessert!

A perfect ending. I used lemon thyme from my garden..WOW. I wouldn't change a thing. I read all the reviews first. It's too bad that a recipe that gets 8 five stars and 3 lower ratings, get a 4 star. Because of that a lot of cooks will miss out. Go Girl, your stuff is

I was not a fan of these bars. I felt a certain flavor in them was a little overpowering, either the thyme or the lemon or the sugar. I would maybe try to make them again but change up the ingredients a bit.

I made this yesterday and served it as a dessert for dinner....goes so well with coffee (or espresso with vanilla ice cream or gelato! My Husband totally hated it, while the rest of the family (who can be OVERTLY honest with me loved it...sooo AWESOME JOB with this one Giada! One thing though, TWO TABLESPOONS is WAY too much thyme for 1 recipe I only did half a tablespoon and you could tell the thyme flavor was there but not OVERPOWERING!

Okay...tell tha' truth. Your husband or boyfriend thinks Giada is hot? That is the only reason I can see for the blantant jealousy. Rate tha' recipe's. Not the cook.
    Get over yourself.

I tried out these lemon thyme bars and they were definitely different then the usual. I made them for myself and a few guests and we all agreed that they had too much thyme in them. This is most likely my fault, though. I was unable to find fresh thyme at the store, so i settled for dried/ground thyme and used 1/2 of the amount the recipe called for, and they were still very overly thyme'd. So if anyone is in the same boat as I was, maybe use 1/4 of what the recipe calls for.

They were also a lot more biscuit-esque then I was imagining, but not a bad texture at all. Overall, had the thyme been right I think they would have went over a lot better.
