This is by far the best Lentil and Rice Salad I have ever tasted. Not only easy, but ANYONE can make this dish. My family loves when I watch The Food Channel and come up with a winner. This salad is now in my Favorite Family recipe book and will be passed down to my children. Good served with Lamb or just by itself with crusty bread for a light dinner. You taste all the spices, and the olives add a bite that mixes with the lemon zest to make this a SURE WINNER. You gotta try this one.

As always Giada continues to dazzle us with her wonderful recipes. This one is no exception. Just be sure to include ALL the ingredients - do not skip lemon zest and calamata olives (I did last time. It does make a difference! This is a tasty, filling side dish which I would entertain with as well.

I had everything I needed for this recipe right in the pantry so I was anxious to make it as soon as I watched the show. I used brown rice too as I thought that would make it even more healthy. The cooking time for the lentils took about 30 minutes, but I used the regular kind, not green lentils. This is an excellent healthy dish that can be served as a cold salad or a warm side dish. The lemon peel, herbs, and kalamata olives makes it zing so I don't know why some are saying this was a bland dish. I loved it and will make it again.

I almost didn't try this because everyone said it didn't have any flavor. It was excellent just the way it was and very full of flavor. The only thing I change was to brown rice. Give it a try...

I've made this twice and I loved it both times. Not sure why some others have found it bland... it's rice and beans and it's subtle, but with the kalamata olives and thyme & lemon zest, I think it's very tasty. The second time I made it, I used brown rice that was left over from Chinese Takeout and I liked it even more that with white rice... and it's even healthier with brown rice.

This dish is not good. It is bland and I even seasoned it more. I usually do real well with Giada's dishes but I threw this one out right away. A waste of time.

Needs more spices - very bland.
