great recipe and it's easy to make. I've subsituted different pastas (orzo, and sometimes added other veggies (zucchinis but the basic recipe is fantastic. Couple of keys here are the fresh thyme, and good preferably organic tomatos. Giada does it again!

Very disappointing. I followed the recipe but I made my own vegetable broth instead of chicken broth. Maybe that is what the issue was but the flavor was just nothing special. The soup had very little flavor. The pasta didn't seem to taste right in it either. My husband and I both had the flu so I didn't have the energy to make anything else after I finally finished this and so we ate it because we were sick but it really wasn't tasty. We both agreed it was not worth it

This was a tasty alternative to curried lentils, the indian version also known as "dahl". Very nice!

Only thing I changed was I added diced chicken tenders and sliced zucchini. I also added 3 cheese whole wheat tortellini and left out the Parmesan. My first time trying lentils and I must say I was very delighted with this recipe and my husband really liked it.

I used split lentils and wish I would have used whole lentils. I think I would have enjoyed it more if it had more of a tomato base..

Best lentil soup I have ever had. Even good the next day. Used veggie stock to make it vegetarian.

Good basic recipe, easy to follow and good for beginners who haven't done a lentil soup before. I personally liked it better when I removed the pasta, added red pepper flakes to give it a little kick and blended the lentils with an immersion blender so it had a smoother texture. Since I modified the recipe so much, I wrote it up online and you can find it on chickenbrothrecipes dot com - search for "lentil soup with jalepeno oil". Its really delicious! Overall, I liked this basic recipe, it is what got me started with making my own version.
