I have been in the mood for lentil soup and it just so happened to be on TV - was someone trying to tell me something. I had never made lentil soup before and it looked simple enough that even I could do it.

This was outrageous - my entire family loved it and there was more than enough, we even had left overs.

My husband said " this is a keeper"

I remember as a child helping my Mom and my Grandmother make homemade soup and how delicious, hearty, and healthy those soups were for our large family, but I had never actually made homemade soup myself. My Fiance and I were watching "Everyday Italian" and the lentil soup looked so good and so easy that I thought I'd try my luck at making it myself -- Wow! It was a huge hit with my Fiance and now he wants me to make it for our annual Super Bowl party - I hope I'm ready for that! Thanks Giada - I think we're getting married next week now thanks to you! Just kidding, but it definitely added an extra spark to our relationship!

I made this exactly per the instructions, except the cut of meat weighed a bit more and I used two cans of lentils. I used low sodium beef broth for at least 3/4 of the broth amount. Other than salting the meat, it needed not additional salt. I added a bit more pepper on my individual serving. My husband said the recipe is definitely a keeper and I agree. I used it as a main course for the two of us and there is plenty more left!

Light, chunky, and delicious! Family and co-workers all loved it. I completely browned the chuck to get all those lovely brown particles to add more of rich flavor to the stock. Everything I have every prepared from the TV show to her recipes have been fabulous! Never a waist of time or money!

Giada always makes her food so appealing and easy to make. I really like the excitement she shows in making food. I too have the same passion.
