This is the very first "cheese Cake" I have ever attempted. I am NOT a fan of cheesecake. I do not like the textures. But this recipe takes the cake. Easy to make (even at 9500 feet elevation and what flavors! I love the lemon and basil combination. As a treat, I added toasted almonds to the crust. The biscotti I got did not have them. It only added to the nuttiness and flavor of the crust. Thanks Giada!! Another hit recipe!

I saw the show and my husband's mouth drooled, so as I regularly experiment with cheesecake flavors and crust, I couldn't make it quickly enough. The crust definitely has more butter in it than I've traditionally used, but I asked everyone who tasted it (6 or 7 people and everyone LOVED it!!!!! People were begging for more. I used frozen cubed mangoes to make the puree. The taste isn't as mango-ey as I thought, just adds a tropical flavor. The basil lemon syrup was AMAZING!!! The concept of mixing unexpected flavors is great. My family and friends can't WAIT for me to make it again!!! You rock, Giada!!!

I love the idea of this cheesecake...but mine did not come out so great. I used fresh mangos and the flavor of the cake was good. The consistency however was awful. It was clumpy and gritty. It almost looked like scrambled eggs. Maybe it was because I used my stand mixer instead of a food processor? And the crust was mushy :( But the basil syrup was amazing! So to brake it down...flavors good...textures bad. For mine anyway.

I didn't like cheesecakes but after watching Giada I thought to give it a second chance. Well I'm glad I did it was good, I didn't make the basil syrup instead just a creamy cool whip. Thanks for making me like cheesecakes!!

This is a nice change from the basic "NY" cheesecake.
A nice combo of ingredients. Go, Giada!

I watched the show and had to try it.....little worried about the 3 star reviews, but took a chance because Giada is very consistent with her recipes. This cheesecake was amazing! So, so creamy and light...crust was wonderful, and basil lemon syrup was divine. Certainly a different take on the basic cheesecake, and I'm sure that's why anyone who's palette is stuck on the ho-hum norm, then they may not care for these flavor combinations. This cheesecake is decadent and delicious!

Once I reduced the butter measurement to approx 1/2 stick butter, this cheesecake came out to perfection! The more I make it the better it comes out....you really need to make sure it jiggles when taken out of the oven, then it doesn't dry out when completely cooled and this way it's very creamy...I prefer to make it two days ahead so the flavors meld....we love it! delish!

Texture is grainy and mango favor is lost. A disappointing waste of cream cheese, ricotta, and eggs. A better use of ingredients would be to make a cheesecake and top with mango.

This cheesecake was sooooo so good. I don't know what you guys are talking about with this 3-star rating business. I will definitely make this again. It was so light and flavorful and the sweet basil sauce gave it that richness.
