This recipe is very simple, and delicious. It is a basic sauce that can go on anything! I love that I can add vegetables to it without my kids even knowing! I just pureed the veggies before adding them to the sauce. My friends and family were impressed with the flavor and fresh taste!

I've made this recipe at least 10 times. I 100% prefer it over the brand name jar type. Plus, it's healthier. I spice mine up a bit with more salt, chili powder, and red pepper. Sometimes I puree it, sometimes I don't. If I put too much carrot in it, it turns orange. But, it still tastes wonderful! Note that the recipe, as written, doesn't make a lot. So double the recipe for a large family. Or quadruple it even! I often add some cooked ground beef at the end for meat sauce. A+

We can our own tomatoes here in Michigan & I use my own tomato juice. My wife said she hasn't like it since she was stationed in Naples, Italy. Just what the doctor ordered!

I made this recipe with high hopes that it would become my one and only sauce to use. In fact, I doubled it so some could be frozen for future dinners. It is very bland with absolutely no taste to encourage you to finish your dish. It certainly can be used as a basic beginning to add other herbs & spices to give it life but no thank you as a stand alone sauce.

I made this sauce for the first time this week. The only change to the recipe was that I used my own home grown Amish Paste heirloom tomatoes. Fantastico! I made meatball sandwiches with Italian meatballs I purchased at Costco, topped with this sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese all on sourdough rolls. This sauce was so good, I could have drank it by itself! I'll never buy store bought again, that's for sure.

Everyone in my house loved this, even the picky vegetarian. I made it as written except added extra garlic. Great way to get a few more veggies in the family.

I made this sauce adn the ONLY thing I added was a dash more garlic. I like smooth sauces, so I pureed it at the end. It turned orange and was soooo bitter, I couldnt even begin to fix it. I threw it out!!!!!
I can't even imagine HOW these other people made it and loved it! It bothered me so much that I dont even know if I am going to try another home made sauce again. I am so frustrated!!
