I consider myself a beginner when it comes to baking and these dessert bars are so wonderful! They are creamy and delicious without being too sweet. My husband loves them and he can be a tough critic! The only change I make to this recipe is that I leave out the sliced almonds and just use the chopped chocolate toffee bits. This is my go-to dessert because it impresses everyone and is easy to make!

This is a scrumptious recipe, and so easy! My four-year-old granddaughter helped me make it as a surprise for my daughter, who was flying in to visit. Everybody -- including me -- raved about the bars. Chocolate, creamy filling, and toffee -- doesn't get better than that. I didn't have the size pan called for, so I made them in a 9 x 9 inch square pan. Worked just as well. This is a great bar to make for bake sales, potlucks, etc., because of the ease of preparation and spectacular-looking results.

Just made these and they are AMAZING! But, the dough does take several minutes longer to cook than the recipe indicates. Also, I put my sliced almonds in to toast at 350 for 8 minutes as indicated and at 6 minutes I checked on them and they were almost too toasted...so 8-9 minutes is a bit too long. The mascarpone makes this chocolate filling to die for! Will definitely make these again.

I made these in an 8X8 pan. It took about 24min for the dough to cook to a golden brown. I candied some pecans and once cooled chopped them up and added them to the top. I think Toasted Macadamia nuts would be a nice alternative.

Oh my these are YUMMY! I didn't have almonds so I used pecans and yes, bake cookie dough about 20-25 min. A keeper!

One batch makes enough small bars for a large group...you only need one or two because they are super rich. I agree with chef Charlotte that the cookie dough takes closer to 25 minutes to brown, not the 14 stated in the recipe. I have made these 3 times and have won high praise every time I do.
