Oh my these are YUMMY! I didn't have almonds so I used pecans and yes, bake cookie dough about 20-25 min. A keeper!

One batch makes enough small bars for a large group...you only need one or two because they are super rich. I agree with chef Charlotte that the cookie dough takes closer to 25 minutes to brown, not the 14 stated in the recipe. I have made these 3 times and have won high praise every time I do.

This recipe was good, but not amazing. It makes a small pan, so when taking a dessert to a card party, I had to double the recipe. By the time I bought toffee bars, mascarpone cheese($5.99 per tub and good chocolate chips, it was quite expensive. I probably won't make this again... it just wasn't good enough for the cost.

These bars are sinful and so rich! The cookie dough for me took more like 20-25 minutes to brown on the top. The mascarpone adds another dimension to the chocolate and is delicious! The cookie bottom was chewy and slightly doughy but I think tasted better than it would have if it were crispy and crunchy. I cooled the bars for more like 3 hours since the chocolate was still slightly soft after 2 hours.

Absolutely Amazing!
A friend made these for me and they are probably the best bars I've ever had, the flavor is incredible, especially if you are a chocolate fan.

Hey, I have an idea... if you want to ask a question rather than rate a recipe, use 5 stars NOT 1 star. Totally unfair and WAY off mark -- especially for this dessert. This is an absolutely delicious and extremely rich treat. Rich is good, folks... just take a smaller piece and enjoy. And as another poster said, if you change up the recipe, please don't rate it low. Your mistake not Giada's. Love your recipes, Giada!!

I made this receipe to take to a gathering of friends. If the original receipe was not rich enough (LOL I added 1/3 cup of toasted coconut which only enhance an already excellent dessert. Thank you for this receipe and it was delicious. My plate was the only totally empty plate on a dessert table that had at least 15 different desserts.

Easy to make and they get better as they are in the fridge longer. Very rich, a little of this desert goes a long way.
