I only made the meatballs - I took the easy way out for the marinara sauce and used a high quality name brand in the jar. I have discovered in my cooking years that using a blend of the veal, pork, and beef to make flavorful, moist, and perfect texture meatballs is a must. The parmesan is also a must ingredient. What a great tasting meatball sandwich. Toast the bread, get the cheese melted over the meatballs and top it off with your best marinara, and that's when simple collides with simply fantastic!

Extremely tasty meatballs. We used a prepared Paul Newman marinara and the sandwiches were delicious! Will definitely keep them in the rotation b/c my kids both loved them, too.

Super delicious! I make these up ahead of time as well and freeze them, uncooked. I just pull out the desired amount, defrost them and add to soups or cook them in a pan with a little oil. Excellent recipe :-

I made these for a teen party at my house. I used all three meats the first time but actually like it better with just beef and pork. I needed to feed a lot of kids at one time so I used Costco small rolls and made it so one meatball filled the bun. I added a little sauce.( I used Trader Joe's marinara. , a quarter slice of mozzarella, put the top roll on and wrapped them individually in foil. I kept them in the over at 275 degrees until I served them. The foil also made them easier to grab and eat with no mess. They were fun to make and to eat. The teens loved them.

THE MEATBALL ARE SOO DELICIOUS!!!! I COULDN'T FIND THE VEAL SO I USED BEEF (85% AND PORK ONLY. MY HUSBAND AND TWO BOYS ATE IT ALL UP! THE MEATBALLS ARE SO WELL SEASONED. THE MARINARA ISN'T THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD. SO I AM GOING TO TRY AND SEASON IT A BIT MORE WITH SPICES NEXT TIME. I WILL DEFINITELY BE DOUBLING THE RECIPE SO WE CAN HAVE LEFTOVERS. IT TOOK ME AN HOUR TO PREP EVERYTHING INCLUDING THE MARINARA. MUST TRY THIS! THANKS AGAIN GIADA!

This is amazing!! We absolutely loved it. We used all grass fed beef for the meat. Next time I will only use 1 or even just 1/2 bay leaf since I'm not crazy about the taste of them. We used gluten free (glutino crackers crushed up as the bread crumbs. I used basil for the meatballs with just a bit of parsley and baked them at 375 for 20 minutes, then put them in the simmering sauce for another 20 minutes to finish them off. I also added some fresh herbs to the homemade marinara sauce in its last 20 minutes of cooking. We used Ezekiel buns as the bread, and it turned out awesome. Yum!! Love this one, Giada!

Best meatballs I have ever made! I used ground turkey instead of the traditional meats and I also baked them in the oven instead of frying them. I could not believe how much flavor they had and it will definitely be added to my list of favorite foods! I like and trust Giada's recipes because I have never been disappointed with anything that I have made from her recipes

I made these for the superbowl and it was a hit. No one could believe that I actually made them after I downed about 6 beers. The sauce is what I thought made them. I also baked the meatballs (350*-375* 25 min I think, stuck it all in a crock pot and that was it. I made double the meatballs, so I threw in another can of crushed tomatoes and bumped up the veggies in the sauce. Great homemade flavor. I'll be cooking this one up again.

made it for my family..kids loved it. Great flavor. might bake rather than saute next time. Make sure to buy good quality bread...makes all the difference!!! Makes enough to freeze some for another meal. This is a keeper!
