I made this with ingredients on hand already and it turned out great. Used cooked shrimp and tossed them in at the last moment; used Pilsbury pizza crust in the tube; and used diced tomatoes with garlic & such already in so I backed off just a bit on the added seasoning. Also used some of the egg on the dough before I baked it for a nice color! Was very attractive & tasty!

I used Betty Crocker Pizza Crust mix and the dough was perfect. I brushed egg wash on and sprinkled parmesan cheese on the outsize of the calzone before baking; it turned out beautiful golden brown and had flavor. The sauce needs heft; it gets totally absorbed by the dough as it cooks. Tomato sauce instead of canned tomatoes is a better way to go. Shrimp was excellent. I can think of so many different ways to make these little calzones, even go smaller for appetizers! They're beautiful and tasty. Thanks for the idea.

My 5 year old son loves to watch cooking shows w/ me and when he saw this dish...said we had to make it. We made it together and I was floored at how well the flavors came together once we baked the Calzones. It was simple and fun to do w/ the kids. We recommend using homemade dough; you can't beat it:

My family clamours for this several times a month. Not as heavy or calorie laden as the riccota bobms you get from many of the take out places.
I have subbed chicken for the shrimp. cooked spinach into the sauce and made spinach/shrimp calzones. Used the shrimp and sauce on pasta w/o the dough.
Thanks for a great "change of scenery" recipe

This was a very tasty and easy recipe to make. My family I loved it! The shrimp mixture alone was good enough to eat as an entree. The crust was so flaky and tender. This was my first time making calzones. I will make this recipe again. Being a shrimp lover, this recipe really hit the spot. Thanks, Giada.

Made these twice so far. Once I made the dough and once I bought it. I will always buy the dough in the future. It makes this recipie SO much easier and tastes just as good (maybe even better I think. I added mushrooms and basil to the sauce.
