I made this soup for a dinner party. The recipe is easy, the flavors are wonderful and the results got rave reviews, even from those who were not "cuisine adventurous" or thought fruit soup was not to their liking. Upon request, I supplied the recipe to all the couples present. Definitely a Do Again..OFTEN.

Before making this dish, we realized we only had white wine to work with, and getting a star anise was slightly spendy. So, we decided to do without red wine and the star anise- and good news! The berry topping turned out fantastic! The wine was mildly overpowering, but the cinnamon made for great flavor. It also looked marvelous in a small sundae cup with berries as garnish.

    Thanks Giada!

Giada, another winner!!! I cannot believe how simple and elegant this wonderful recipe was.. I have tried MANY of your recipes and all of them have been wonderful. Look for Star Anise online if you have to (I had to it's absolutely worth it to find it.. Spicebarn.com has it.. Thanks again Giada keep it up!!!

This is a great dessert to serve to guests who've "tried everything". It's easy, forgiving, and beautiful.
What I'm wondering is: How does this freeze?? I know it keeps for several days, but what is the quality after it's been frozen?

I have never tried gelato before, but it will be one of my first choices from now on. The mixed berry soup was so awesome. It made so much and now I was wondering how long it will keep in the refrigerator? Thanks, Giada for sharing such wonderful recipes!

This is delightful! I didn't have any gelato, but not to fear--it's wonderful on vanilla icecream and the whole topped with toasted slice almonds! Another winner, Gladia

After watching the show with this recipe, I tried it straight-away to rave reviews from my friends and family.

I just finished a new batch for service with cheesecake at Christmas.

Very easy recipe with lots of pizazz.

This is one of the best ice cream deserts ever! Really easy. I had left over sauce which I froze for another time. Definitely include the star anise. The flavor is key.

This was soo easy and wonderful to make. I used all the same ingrediants and it was easy to do . We used a "Cake Batter" ice cream from "Cold Stone Creamery due to I could not find a Vanilla Bean Gelato here in town. It came out Fabulous. Everyone enjoyed it and yet it was a simple recipe. I had plenty left over so I took and added about another 1/2 cup sugar and 2 cups milk to 1 cup Berry Soup Mix and made a shake out of it as well. It was tasty. Thanks for the great easy fixes.
