My six grandchildren from ages 2 to 18 fell in love with this sandwich. I made two for Sunday evening meal. The two teenage granddaughters took leftovers for lunch the next day. All their friends want the recipe and any future leftovers. The girls said they will have to stand in line for leftovers.

I've been making this for years now. Fun to cut it infront of everyone. Lots of oohs and oh-wow's when you slice a seemingly boring loaf of bread in half to reveal the inside layers. Wonderful flavors get rave reviews. However, I'm still trying to figure out how to make this easier to eat. Rustic bread from Whole F. is too tough. My local grocery store bread mushes down to just a crust. Still tastes wonderful anyway!

If you are even partially second guessing making this sandwich DON'T! We are going to a concert at the Botanic Gardens tomorrow night, and I made this today to let set overnight in the refrigerator. All I can say is I can't wait. It is very substantial, and will be plenty for four people, particularly with two big guys along. I did not change one thing, and it just turned out to be a beautiful presentation. I followed one of the other poster's comment about not removing a lot of the bread to allow for some soaking of the dressing. Worked out perfect. THANK YOU.

I've made this sandwich several times...mostly for parties. Make it the night before and it's even more tasty the next day. All you have to do is slice and plate. Substituting different kinds of deli meat and breads effects the flavor ever-so-slightly. Kids and adults alike love this sandwich. Try it! Your guests will rave about the flavor.

I can't believe how something so simple can turn out so wonderful. The combo of the meats, the olive salad, and the foccacia bread I used was out of this world. I did cheat the first time and doused the olives in Italian salad dressing-still fantastic. A great summertime meal! My husband has already asked for me to make these for football tailgating in the fall.
