We vacationed in a suite with a kitchen so I brought the panettone with us but forgot the recipe so I had to improvise with limited ingredients. I made a simple syrup with orange zest and the juice of one orange. I absolutely loved the taste of the panettone as french toast and was almost too sweet with the syrup. I can only imagine how delicious it would be as written. I am looking forward to making it again next Christmas--correctly this time--when panettone is easily available.

This is good but not as good as I hoped. In my opinion Alton Brown's recipe (Episode #EA1G17 and Rachel Ray's Crunch Vanilla-Almond French Toast (Episode #TM1E08 are better and the bread is easier to find.

I am half Italian. My grandmother received Panettone every Christmas from family members and she never made this recipe with it. I made it this Christmas exactly to Giada's recipe and it was a hit with all my family. We loved it! It started our Christmas Day out with a delicious breakfast that everyone loved. Thanks Giada!

Very yummy! We enjoyed this for Christmas breakfast and absolutely loved it!! I bought panettone bread from Le Boulanger and it was so good as french toast. We topped it with fresh raspberries and blueberries and sprinkled powder sugar on it per the recipe. The syrup was delicious and the cinnamon smelled wonderful as I was cooking. Will definitely make this again next Christmas :

Just finished this recipe for the first time. Similar to reviewers below, I purchased a panettone at Trader Joe's and had never tried it before. I just got married and we wanted to start a Christmas Eve. morning tradition. Well, we just found it! Giada's recipes never fail! I halved the recipe for the french toast and for the syrup for only two people and both worked out perfectly. Happy Holidays!

Made this for 3 people who had never had panettone before and weren't too sure about it. I always trust Giada's recipes and so I made it anyway.....EVERYONE cleaned their plate. And my husband requested that I make it again for Christmas morning. I also made the pot roast and polenta and they were FANTASTIC!!! Bravo Giada! Keep them coming!

Giada! I watched your show on this breakfast ! My husband and I loved it! We changed it up alittle to a quicker time; we had the italian panteone and used maple syrup from Trader Joe's.
We added cinnamon to the batter, because we didn't make the syrup. We used more whole milk then the cream we had on hand. Most importantly; this is a keeper! We had this down with 20 min.. Thanks!

This recipe has become our Christmas morning breakfast. It's fantastic! The smells are wonderful, it's easy to make and it tastes delicious. Adults and kids both love it. I buy the Panettone at Trader Joe's at holiday time. My family can't wait until I make it this year and we'll eat breakfast by the fire with hot cocoa.

I tried this recipe for brunch this morning, very good but much sweeter than regular french toast. Very good but I don't think I'll make it again (therefore the reason for the "4" rating.
