I tried this out tonight and it was wonderful. I had a few of my girlfriends over for wine and snacks and I put these out. The girls couldn't get enough of them. They were a hit!

    Best Sandwich Ever

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
Absolutely the most divine combination of flavors ever. With the gooey chocolatey brie dripping out between toasty crisp bread, the basil just adds the perfect finishing touch. I would eat this every day if it were possible to keep chocolate in my house for more than 12 hours!

    Excellent Recipe-Adictive

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I keep my stock of brie, chocolate and bread (I change the sourdough bread to ciabatta) and it taste unbelievable... I make one almost every day!!! I just love the combination of flavors. The last one made it with more brie, but i will return to just one layer of brie, it taste better! Thank you for this recipe!!!

    Soooo good!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
While this combination sounded kind of odd initially, I opted to try it being that I love brie, chocolate, and basil by themselves. The trio together is amazing! So savory yet sweet. You get the rich, smooth creaminess from the brie, the sweet melted chocolate, and the savory basil and it all comes together beautifully. I don't have a panini grill or anything similar, so I just made it in a skillet like I do with regular grilled cheese sandwiches, and it was still delicious. Try it--you may be very pleasantly surprised!

    LOVE IT!!!!

I simply love this recipe! The combination of brie, chocolate and basil is just great. I've noticed that the more I eat this sandwich the more I want it, so for some it may be an acquired taste. It's very easy to make and great tasting!

    My latest obsession

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I find Giada's recipes to be hit or miss and was not convinced about this one until I read all of the comments. I have to agree with the rave reviews, as I have now made this twice this week and am already craving it again. It is a lovely and decadent lunch. My grocery store did not have sourdough so I made it on ciabatta rolls, and it worked fine. I would recommend a liberal use of basil. The first time I made it, I was very cautious as I thought it was a strange flavor. But it is an important element to cut the richness of the chocolate and brie, so use it liberally.

    great, easy, flavorful sandwich

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
This sandwich was surprisingly really delicious. While it appears to be an odd combination, the chocolate and the basil are really great together and the brie just adds a really nice creaminess to the sandwich. I have made this multiple times and everyone I make it for has enjoyed it!!

This recipe is very easy to prepare. The ingredients "melt" together wonderfully. If you are a chocolate lover, you will LOVE this divine panini.

    Amazing

Since I first discovered this recipe I make it all the time. I absolutely love it. It's kind of difficult to keep fresh basil leaves constantly on hand, but I think they're kind of unnecessary. It's still amazing.

    Yum!!!!

Excellent. I used my electric grill as opposed to a panini maker. The basil and brie pair perfectly with the chocolate. A wonderfully sweet and savory treat!

    Wasn't impressed

I saw this on Giada's show and couldn't wait to try it. I just wasn't impressed. The basil was way too strong and I didn't like the brie with the chocolate.

    Oddly Delicious!

Rated: 4 stars out of 5
Who'd have thought to combine chocolate, brie and basil? Giada did. I saw her make this for Oprah (I was sick at home one day -- I don't make Oprah a habit!) I couldn't resist, so I tried it several days later. The first bite is filled with uncertainty. But with each subsequent bite, this panini becomes better and better. Try it. It's a lot better than it initially sounds...

    Amazing...w/ a few changes

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I would NEVER have dreamed that this combo would taste good...I've been so narrow minded in terms of basil - I only think to pair it with mozzarella. But it is DELICIOUS with brie! I've made this twice now, using my george foreman grill as a panini maker, and it is a spectacular combo. I like it best with a LOT of basil, and a little less chocolate - definitely NOT 1/3 cup - maybe 1/8 cup at most. I used extra dark chocolate chips. YUM!!! Try this, you won't be disappointed.

    Not together

Rated: 2 stars out of 5
I love chocolate but this was hard for me to like. The chocolate on a EVOO toasted sourdough is D-lickous :) And melted bree on that toast with basil is yummy. But together it didn't work for me. I would seperate them and serve the cheesey toast as an appetizer and chocolate toast for desert. Eater beware.

I loved this recipe, but my friend did not. When everything is heated up, it blends really well together.

    A Huge Hit

I was trying to come up with something different for a Baby Shower and ran across this recipe. Of course, one can never go wrong with Giada. The guests who heard brie and turned their noses up tried it regardless and were so glad they did. They were delicious!!!

    Surprise Flavor!

Rated: 3 stars out of 5
These were great! I used Italian bread instead of sourdough, but it was great. I don't have a panini maker, so I used a George Forman grill. Worked great. Next time, I would use less sweet chocoate, lile bittersweet or even dark. A keeper!

    It was definately a dessert

This was ok. It's best to let it cool a little so the cheese and chocolate don't ooze out.

    Quick & Delicious!!!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
This is so good! I love basil and with the combination of the cheese and olive oil - well, absolutely delicious! And the extra touch of the semi-sweet chocolate chips is perfect! A real winning treat!! Just in case you don't have a panini grill like me, take a brick, clean it and cover it with aluminum foil. Works like a charm!
