Great recipe, and extremely easy, I have no idea what industrialcook is talking about in their review. Maybe they need to go on Worst Cooks and learn some basics. All it takes is knowledge of chopping, which takes maybe 10 minutes. If you can't make this recipe easily and in under an hour, you shouldn't be cooking. My only suggestion is to add some sugar. I added about 4 Tbsp to cut the acid of the tomato sauce, came out fantastic. Do it one Tbsp at a time though, you don't want it to get sweet, just take the edge off the acidity. One more thing, Pancetta is available at every grocery store's deli counter I've ever been to, Kroger carries it, so no need to hit a gourmet food store...

First off, I'm no five star iron chef and this recipe was far from "easy and quick" as it and most reviews describe. This was NOT something I wanted to get into after a long day at work but foolish me decided to once again give foodnetwork a chance and try this.
Also, it is in no way an inexpensive recipe to make. If by some miracle, you do find pancetta at your grocery store, prepare to shell out a hefty twelve to twenty bucks just for the six ounces. I did it because I thought, "hey if it's an expensive ingredient maybe it will be a delicious meal."
Wrong.
Waste. Of. Time. And. Money.
Do not make this horrid recipe. The sauce they claim is "soooo goooood!!" is simply tomato paste with tasteless bits in it. It was watery, too tomato-ey, lacked complex and was a complete waste of my time and money.
I simply wanted an easy delicious meal to make after work and instead I had the misfortune of stumbling across this.
Thanks for the waste of time and money foodnetwork. I'm done!

2 stars for being so easy. Made this twice. First time with pancetta and didn't work out. Second time, I used bacon instead and there's no difference in taste. I had to tweak this badly.

This was really good, my hubby loved it. I substituted bacon for the pancetta since I didn't have any. I made sure to drain the pan after sauteing the onions. I don't know how much grease pancetta has as opposed to bacon, but draining would've been a good step to add to the directions.

Made this recipe exactly as shown. It was way too tomato-ey and not enough flavor. A 28 oz can of tomato puree is way too much to use with the other ingredients. Maybe try using crushed tomatoes, more cayenne pepper, more garlic and make sure you finely chop the pancetta instead of cube-ing it.
