I give it a 3.5, but I guess I am rounding it up to a 4 because they dont let you use halves. I made this and thought it was ok, nothing to really take a picture of and put on instagram lol. I would say its a serviceable meal that you can eat on a lazy wednesday to take to work the next day, but nothing I would cook for a date. I think this recipe needs something sweet to balance the taste of the sun-dried tomatoes...but maybe that's just me.

I got the sun-dried tomato pesto recipe (without the penne from Giada's Everyday Italian cookbook. The pesto was okay. Didn't really wow me but I gave it an extra star because I discovered it works really well as an ingredient to turkey burgers. Adds moisture and flavor.

Crazy easy and good. Love adding chicken sausage or chicken to it for some protein.

Commenter who cheated this of 5 stars because it is "too dry", clearly missed the instruction to use the cup of pasta water. Delicious and simple to put together. Another good Giada recipe!

My husband, who is an awesome griller/smoker but not that great at cooking, surprised me and made this recipe. It was an awesome light dish and easy for even the novice cook. Thanks again Giada!

Eh, this recipe didn't do it for me. I found it incredibly dry. There wasn't enough oil in the jar of sun-dried tomatoes I used to coat the pasta. The flavor was ok, I would just suggest adding some olive oil to the pesto before coating the pasta.

So easy to make albeit I tweaked a few things:
added 1 block of vegetable bouillon, a tablespoon of olive oil and a few drops of water into the food processor. then, added strips of grilled red capsicums (peppers into the pot of cooked penne and pesto mixture. Parmesan was added into each serving dishes/pasta bowls and a dash of Tabasco for myself and for my hubby.
This is will be another weekly staple and the same way goes for Ellie's Pasta Puttanesca recipe and Marcella's Brussels Sprouts Supreme!!!! D-E-L-I-S-H!
Thank you, Food Network, for turning someone who hates cooking like myself into a "domestic cook". =]

I just made this tonight and my boyfriend and I were not very impressed. It would not be a bad side dish for a main meal but as a main pasta dish, it was not flavorful and really did not have much to give. I was a little bummed out because it looks so good. But it really was a let down :(
