If I could think of one word to describe this recipe it would be revolting. Let me clarify, the steaks were fine which I grilled. Luckily, I served the sauce on the side, otherwise the steaks would have been really gross. As someone else mentioned, the sauce was gross grey and soupy. Despite the nasty look of it, I tried it and it was as nasty as it looked. I am still trying to get the taste out of my mouth. YUCK!

This is a fabulous Valentines dinner. The sauce recipe is enough for two steaks or more but this is a dinner for one category. The sauce is as good as you will get in a restaurant and a favorite at my house. I used button mushrooms and this was just as good and daughter liked it better than the porcini

This rating is for the sauce only, because I did my steak my own way. The sauce is out of this world!

Read carefully as the serving size is one. Also, make sure you cook your porcini mushrooms through. My family enjoys blue cheese but not too much. I didn?t tell them I used gorgonzola until after they took a bite. They were mildly surprised. I strained the mushrooms twice to remove any additional grit, although I do care for earthy dinners. If you serve this with sauteed spinach/garlic/honey, a nice risotto, yellow/green peppers with onions and a fresh loaf of French bread, make sure you leave room for the honey ricotta cheesecake! After this meal, you might be required to run a few extra laps or hike another 500 feet up the mountain. But it is worth it, as I will make this dish again.

I've served this twice in the last month and both times all agreed the sauce is soooo good. I'm not a fan or gorgonzola, so I used Great Hill Blue cheese and it made great steaks even better!

This was a fabulous meal. We grilled the filets on a gas grill for about 7 mins a side until the meat thermometer registered 130 degrees. It is a rich dish and we wanted simple sides so we served it with green beans, roasted potatoes and a couple slices of juicy vine tomatoes. The only thing we would do differently is reduce the olive oil when making the sauce and soak and strain the porcini mushrooms several times to make sure all of the dirt is removed.

I made this for my fiance for our Valentines Day dinner. He raved about it and said it was one of the best beef meals he's ever had! To save money, I used a less expensive cut of beef and it was just as flavorful as a filet. Also, I used fresh portobello mushrooms instead of the dried porcini's the recipe called for (they weren't available at my market. The flavor was fantastic and the fresh mushrooms soaked up the wine and thyme. As an appetizer, I served Giada's Bruschetta with Gorgonzola and Honey and I added sliced figs. Yum!! Thanks for such a great meal Giada!
