I had a similar appetizer at a cocktail party last year. When I made these, the flavor was fantastic, but they were somewhat dry. Based on the previous appetizer, I spread a small dollop of apricot jam on each pizzette before adding the rest of the ingredients and it solved the problem. I also used homemade pizza dough, made with my breadmaker and using half whole wheat pastry flour. It was delicious and healthier too!

Can I make this dish ahead of time ?These pizzettes look delicious, I am cooking next wed for a group of people for a good cause. Great dish to add to my menu ?
I am giving them a five because I have never experienced a bad recipe from Giada.

Hubby and I loved these little appetizers! Many nights we do an appetizer dinner and these will be added to our collection. I actually used pumpernickel cocktail bread, which was ok, but next time will try the pizza dough. Maybe add some sun-dried tomato!

I made these last night for the first time for a dinner party and they were a big hit. Once the onions are caramelized they go together super fast. I like my pizza thin and the dough that I purchased puffed up too much. I will try another kind next time, any recommendations for a thin pizza dough?

I had a party and decided to try these because I love Giada's recipes and it had 5 stars. These were great! I pulled them out of the oven and they were barely cool enough to eat before they were gone! Great. The only negative I found was that it actually took 2 hours to cook the onions not 1 hr! Good thing I started them well ahead of time.

Since everyone else gave this recipe five stars, I am going to assume I did something wrong. I bought pizza dough from our grocer, rolled it out and cut out the rounds. Put the pan into the oven with all the required ingredients, and after five minutes decided to peep in to see how things were going--all the little flat pizza had turned into snowballs and all the ingredients were sliding off onto the pan! I quickly took my spatula and flatten back into shape and added new ingredients. I packed them all up, without tasting one, and headed to my party. It was only later that I decided to sample one. Wow! they were like tiny disks--I suspect there are quite a few in potted plants and umbrella stands around my friend's house--they were dished out of sight as soon as possible.

I made this as an appetizer for XMas Eve and substituted with fillo dough cups and they flew off the plate! They are just as delicious with mozzarrella if your guests do not like goat cheese. Giada is my favorite and I use all of her cookbooks daily. Love, love, love her elegant, classy dishes!
