I love the flavors in this dish. I've also tried these several different ways. The variation I like best is to cook them with the procuitto thinly sliced and cut into small bits. I also found that with the store bought dough that I had needed to be "docked" or the pizzeette dough puffed up and became too thick.

We LOVE this recipe and have varied from, it a few times and still delicious. We have used smoked Gouda and it is very tasty. Tonight we've decide on Halvarti as a twist. Also, we've used crusty french bread baguettes --- also delicious.

A good French feta that has been soaked in water or milk to remove some salt is pretty darn close

Unbelievable. Made it by the recipe and then made a few changes. Both were great but I personally liked the following changes. I mixed 1/2 cream cheese with 1/2 goat cheese and used maple flavored bacon crumbles instead of the prosciutt0. Also used the crescent dough cut in squares and pressed into mini muffin pans (24 per pan filled with onions, mixture of goat and cream cheese .
topped with bacon when it cam out of the oven. So pretty and yum!

LOVE this but just wondering if anyone knows what a good alternative to goat cheese would be?

This recipe was incredible! All the components together were amazing! The onions had so much flavor to them and were nice and sweet. The prosciutto added a nice salty tart flavor to balance out the onions. Together with the cheese, sooo amazing! I have made this one many times.

This is was the most amazing appetizer I think I've ever served! As someone else noted, it took 1.5 hrs to carmelize the onions (which I think Giada mentioned in the episoe, but they were SO well worth it.
I took Giada's advice and also made some sweet pizzettes with Nutella, toasted coconut, toasted almonds and strawberries which were also awesome.
    Thanks Giada!!!

I was slightly hesitant about this recipe because I'm not crazy about onion. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how awesome it tastes! The caramelizing of the onion took about 75 minutes on the gas stove on low heat and it made the onions so sweet. I used two sweet onions and one yellow. I used pre-made dough from Trader Joe's, which was a little hard to work with, but ended up fine in the end. I brought them to my husband's work and they were all impressed and curious as to what was on them. They were surprised to hear it was just simple ingredients. Definitely worth the time and effort. I will make these again!

Although it took 1.5 hours to cook the onions, (not 45 minutes - 1 hour, like the recipe said, it was soo worth it. I used rosemary, as suggested. It was great. Everyone loved them. I will make these over and over with different toppings!!!! And, it only cost me about 20$. The sweet onions and the salty prosciutto went so well together. I prefer ALOT of onions on each pizzette (and so did everyone else. MMMMMMM SO GOOD.
