I followed this recipe exactly and it came out awesome! Although, I heated up in the oven on 400 for 15 minutes. I prefer my polenta warm. It had so much flavor and it was hearty!! LOVED IT!!

Giada's torta recipe was a TOTAL hit! Similar to a review written earlier, I too improvised with store bought pesto and chunky tomato sauce. Doing so made the experience of making this dish enjoyable and stress free. I made the torta for my parents, who could not stop raving about the flavors. In fact they recommend that I make it AGAIN for a lunch in at the elementary school I work at. Overall, try this recipe. You will not be sorry!

I probably would not make this dish again based on the mediocre flavor and amount of time it took to prepare. The taste was not by any means terrible, but it seemed to be lacking something ... maybe because I prefer my polenta warm and crunchy. However, I thought the dish tasted much better when gently heated in the microwave, allowing the warm pesto bechamel to almost melt into the polenta.

This is a very impressive, attractive dish. I've served this to guests twice and got lots of "ohhh's" and "ahh's". I thought the tomato layer needed a little something, so the second time I made this I used red onion instead of shallots, lots more garlic and added some tomato paste to bump up the flavor. Just that little nudge made it much better.

With a little improvising and a little more time to settle for the torta, this is a keeper. Served it with the mustard and rosemary chicken and veggie bolognese sauce. Everyone loved it. Its a keeper.

This was a disaster. It took longer to prep, was a gloppy mess after 4 1/2 hrs in the frig, had no taste, and was expensive to make. So I did something I almost never do....I threw it all away.
