I love prosciutto and melon but I would never have thought to turn this into a sandwich until I tried this recipe. It was wonderful even using a grill pan with a cast iron skillet and a brick on top of the sandwich but I went out the next day and bought myself a present--a panini maker, necessary if your guests don't want to take turns on who gets the next sandwich.

The panini was pretty good. The melon added a diffierent flavor and after a few bites, I was used to it.....

I used plain focaccia bread, which worked perfect. Panino was very easy to make, tasty, and a big hit with everyone at a picnic!

Bread was too hard. Flavor was just okay. Shopping for ingredients meant going from store to store. Even local Italian gourmet market did not have everything; i.e., bread and cheese. Ingredients too expensive. Made one sandwich. Shared with my son. We both lost interest. Won't do that again!
No hard feelings, but this just didn't work for me. :-

Not earth shattering like some of Giada's salads but very good. I liked the refreshing bite of melon in the panino.
