This has been my stuffing staple for the last few years. I love all the flavors. You can find steam packed chestnuts at Trader Joe's for about $5. I found everything I needed at Trader Joe's actually. I always get rave reviews when I make this and it is my fave "leftover" treat.

I now make this every year for Thanksgiving because my family loves it. It is definitely worth finding the steamed chestnuts for this. The stuffing holds up on its own. To the person who asked about using this to stuff a turkey, I wouldn't recommend it.
You need to overcook a turkey in order to properly cook the stuffing through, and you also run the risk of salmonella contaminating the stuffing. Use your favorite aromatics (like garlic, lemon, fresh herbs to stuff the inside of the turkey.

I made this for the first time last year and definitely making it again this year- ingredients are beautiful together. To Lynn, i would definitely double it- i had 10 last year, doubled it and had leftovers, but not as much as you would have thought. and it's great warmed up the rest of the weekend!

I am serving 16 people for Thanksgiving. Another reviewer stated that it made lots. Is it necessary to double the recipe?

I made this on a whim for an early Thanksgiving party this year, as the way I grew up learning to cook stuffing was with most of it going into the bird (Which someone else was bringing. I made a few substitutions, such as subbing 1/3 of the sweet turkey sausage with hot turkey sausage, and mixing in about 1/4 Asiago for the Parm. I also used fresh Italian bread, that I cubed and dried out int he oven for about 7 minutes at 325 as I didn't have any day old cornbread.
With the cheese, your house will smell like you're baking pizza while this is cooking, which is a bit funny at Thanksgiving (At least around my house, but the results are worth it! This is very moist and tasty stuffing. Everything comes together well and you'll really enjoy it.

I made this stuffing after if first aired on Food Network and I loved it. There are so many wonderful ingredients in it and the touch of red pepper gives it that little zip of flavor. There is a wonderful balance between sweet and savory, definitely good as a meal on its own!!

I made this for my family who are Sicilian and they loved it. I make it every year for Thanksgiving. I changed the Turkey Sausage to Hot Italian Sausage and I add Asiago cheese. It is awesome, my Sister has her family hooked on it too!
