Giada is my favorite chef and I've never had a recipe of hers that wasn't five stars....until now. I followed the recipe exactly. There were numerous flavors but they just didn't seem to go together. It sounded a little odd when I read it but went on blind faith that it would be great just like all her other recipes. I won't make this again but will continue to be her fan.

At first, I was a little hesitant to try this. I am so glad I decided to go for it! And so were my guests! Had a small 4th of July picnic by the harbor and everyone loved it! They asked for the recipe. I gave Giada the credit but with a caveat... I did change a few things. For the shrimp, I added garlic. For the dipping sauce, I added a little less maple syrup, more mayo, more mustard, more turmeric and bc the turmeric wasn't smoky enough, I also added paprika and cayenne pepper for a little kick. I kept taste testing every time I added a little more of anything to make sure I didn't ruin it. They all agreed that the SAUCE made the dish!!!!!! I was so pleased... Thanks Giada!

Hi Giada, any possible to replace the herbes de Provence with any other herbs, as we dont have it here in my country.
Hope to hear from you. Cheers.

If you are even a little hesitant to try this - don't test it before you've mix it all together and paired it with the shrimp.
My husband does not care for yogurt so this was a "surprise ingredient" only to be revealed after you have tried it! He loved it. I must admit, as I was preparing it, I was thinking there is no way I am going to pull this off - and taste tests from the spoon left something to be desired - DON'T BE MISLEAD! THIS IS FANTASTIC!
Made two different revisions - one with fat-free yogurt and the other not. Would suggest NOT using the fat-free, took something away from the recipe! ~Thank you Giada

I have a bit of a problem calling this a "shrimp cocktail". It bears little resemblance to the traditional version, and I far prefer that a shrimp cocktail be served chilled with cocktail sauce. The shrimp were excellent, but it's hard to mess up shrimp in a pan for a few minutes with good seasonings. As for the sauce, there was far too much of it for the amount of shrimp, so I was left with a lot of leftover sauce--that would have been fine if I was in love with the sauce, but it was a bit too sweet and the flavor pairing with the shrimp didn't quite make a good match. The shrimp were great on their own without the sauce. Next time I'm in the mood for shrimp cocktail, I'm going the traditional route.

I LOVE herbes de Provence and this shrimp preparation was excellent. I was doubtful on the sauce after I made it as it had no flavor. After sitting in the fridge for a few hours the flavors combined and this was very good. The shrimp are great without the sauce. I served with appetizers and it was very good - definitely make again.
