This is a fabulous alternative to the traditional shrimp cocktail. The sauce is flavorful and has just enough of a kick. I loved the taste of the tumeric also I loved the ability to be able to use this spice!

Shrimp: Excellent... The sauce... Well, what can I say? Turmeric has a distinct bitter flavor. It's not used just for color. It is usually used to deodorize meat, especially poultry. Raw poultry and meat have a specific unpleasant smell which translates to an unpleasant undertone of flavor when cooked, especially in the leftovers. Turmeric and onions are usually used together to eliminate this taste. Even then, Turmeric is used sparingly. 1 teaspoon of it in 1 1/2 cups of a mild(ish sauce would add bitterness. I really feel that the sauce would taste better without the Turmeric, or very little. You would be better off using Paprika.

I made these for Super Bowl Sunday in an attempt to class things up a bit. This recipe was easy to follow and very easy to make. Like my headline says, everyone LOVED the shrimp, but I wasn't too crazy about the sauce. Maybe it was the yogurt component? I would make this again, but skip the money and effort spent on the dipping sauce. Why mess with seafood perfection?

I CANNOT WAIT TO MAKE THIS AGAIN, I WOULD NOT CHANGE A THING, THIS WILL BE A KEEPER, EASY & FAST, I DID NOT THINK I WOULD LIKE THE DIP, BUT WHEN I DIPPED THE SHRIMP INTO THE DIP, I COULD NOT WAIT TO TAKE ANOTHER.

This is a different twist on the traditional shrimp cocktail. I give it a 5. This was our dinner last night and will be many more nights to come.

I was so mad I failed to rate it, so I'm giving it a 5 several times to average out David and my own.
