It was tasty and easy to make. Ma family loved it and my 2 year old son was asking for more more more meat! I didn't use the chocolate and I made it with mashed potatoes rather than pasta. Just a personal preference.

Great special occasion dish! So delicious and awesome. A little too time consuming to be made on a regular basis, though.

Amazing, melt in your mouth dish. I used boneless short ribs because the store didn't have bone in and it still turned out amazing. I will definitely be making this one again. Just a hint for those of you who, like me, had no clue what tagliatelle is and thought you'd find it in the store; it's fettucini. Completely worth the 3 hours (which with boneless was plenty of time to easily shred.

Absolutely heart warming on a cold fall nite! While I did not add the chocolate shaving on top, the dish was still excellent. Very flavorful and rich with tender short rib meat that falls off the bones. Definitely will make this again...now of only there was a faster way to shred the meat!

All of my recipes got wiped out for some reason. When I went to start a new recipe box, I searched for this one first, as it is my favorite recipe from Food Network. Thanks for still having it posted! YUM!!! By the way, I used a 3 lb beef roast once when I couldn't find short ribs, and it was just as awesome! Thanks Giada...you rock!

This recipe was absolutely divine. It really tastes like something you'd have at a gourmet restaurant, but in your home!
It's time consuming but it's easy to make at the end.

I DO AGREE with some reviewers in that 3 hours isn't enough for short ribs to be "fall of the bone". I wished mine were simmering longer; they bone fell off quickly but I couldn't really shred the meat easily, so we'd still have a few whole chunks of meat with the pasta. HOWEVER, it was THE most delicious recipe ever. Make it for when company comes; they'll sure be talking about it for a long time!

Absolutely fantastic. Soooo good. I don't understand why people who have not even tried this recipe post reviews, and then on top of that only rate it 1 star. Please, please can we just stick to the review of the recipe if you've tried it? Love everything about this comfort food recipe. The chocolate sounds a bit odd, but it is definitely worth trying. My family loved it, chocolate and all. Way to go, Giada. Love your recipes.

I made this for new years eve dinner. Guests were GUSHING. This recipe earned me rockstar status. I served it with homemade pasta - which really made it unbelievable. The homemade pasta soaks up the sauce and really deepens the flavor.

The kitchen smelled amazing for hours as it simmered. I highly recommend if you want to WOW your guests. Worth all the effort.
