This is the perfect tomato sauce. I always keep the ingredients on hand so I can make it. There's no reason to ever buy any jarred sauce from the store. It's easy, simple and delicious. Can't ask for anything better.

I made this sauce for the first time today and it is wonderful. The fresh veggies are a nice touch. I like a chunky sauce so I only pureed half of it. My family prefers a sweet tomato sauce so I added some sugar.Whatever you do, don't leave out the unsalted butter - it cuts the acidity of the tomatoes and gives the sauce a rich, velvety texture. Definitely a keeper!

It was such a relief to finally find a simple, perfect, make-it-yourself tomato sauce. By the time my family was through with it, I didn't have anymore to save. Really great sauce!

I have tried various recipes for a good tomato sauce and my husband has critiqued them all when I served them to him. This one passed both his test and mine. Very easy to make, and absolutely delicious..I can't wait to try the vodka sauce version of it.

I tried this recipe because I wanted to see if you could tell the difference with celery and carrots in the sauce. I usually make my tomato sauce from scratch and not from canned tomatoes but tried it exactly as written and it was delicious. My husband doesn't like vegetables and he didn't even know there were any in this sauce. I will be adding celery and carrots to my own recipe in the future. Excellent.

This recipe is delish! But I had to reduce it for 2 hours before I blended it...but I used diced tomatoes indtead of crushed.

My husband suffers from chronic reflux, and in spite of daily medication to control the problem has spent the past several years abstaining from all tomato products. I decided to give this recipe a try, simply because I've tried some of Giada's other recipes and have liked all of them and because she used butter to cut the acidity of the tomatoes. The upshot is that my husband had two large, and I do mean large, servings of chicken parmesan baked with the sauce from this recipe, and hasn't had to take a precautionary double dose of his anti-reflux medicine. So, not only is this recipe quite good, but it allows my hubby to finally be able to enjoy a tomato-y sauce again. Yay!
