I have to admit every pot roast recipe I try turns out pretty good. The problem has always been the gravy. (My husband loves pot roast with mashed potatoes and gravy. Even at thanksgiving everything turned out perfect except my gravy. This gravy is amazing!!! I don't have to do the flour dance I just stick my emersion blender in the pot and it's the best gravy ever. Thank you Giada.

Oh my goodness... this pot roast was like a little party in my mouth. This is the best pot roast I've ever eaten! WOW!! We all loved it so much- it will be a monthly regular. It is probably one of my top 3 favorite meals I've ever made. The meat is so tender and the sauce/gravy is incredible. I made it per the recipe- no changes. I will make this again and again. The bonus: the house smelled amazing. This is true comfort food! I love all the other reviewer's ideas for leftovers- I'll be trying some of those. Thanks Giada for sharing a little piece of heaven!

This is a five star dish! I used slightly more mushrooms and two Porcini bouillon cubes for added flavor, though the recipe stands on it's own. The sauce is so delicious and the meat fork tender. I served over pasta, but love the idea of serving over polenta or potatoes. This is a keeper and definitely a dish for company that will not dig too deep into your budget. We paired with Cabernet (seems to be our standard these days.

OMG, that was the best pot roast I ever made (and I've made quite a few. The wine was the secret weapon (I used a Cabernet and the carrots that I threw in during the last 45 minutes of cooking were amazing. The meat was tender, but sliceable, which is really great. My daughters LOVED it. And yes, the house smells awesome.

Best pot roast ever! I'm glad she made suggestions on what kind of red wine to use because I always have a hard time picking one. I've made it twice now and it is such a hit everyone loves it. Can't wait to make it for a large crowd!

This is in my top 5 favorite dinners ever. My husband loves pot roast with potatoes, carrots, onions, etc. I decided to make this one to mix it up a little. WOW! Yummy! He even liked this version better than our usual. I followed the directions exactly. Do not skimp on the fresh rosemary at the end. It makes the dish.
