I was skeptical to try this receipe but am I glad I did. It is smooth, creamy and sweet!! I used one cup of the simple syrup and it was sweet enough for me!! I can;t wait to make it again. I used greek yougurt because I love the creamy consistency. Go ahead and try this receipe; you'll wish you tried it sooner. I know I did.

The idea of a basil smoothie sounded weird but I just had to try it. I didn't think I'd like it, but surprise, I did! It's unique and refreshing. The first time I made it, it turned completely green since I blended it too long. The second time, I got it to the texture I wanted first then added the basil and pulsed to make it look like Giada's. Like other reviewers, I cut back on the simple syrup and it was the perfect amount of sweetness. I also added more ice since I like my smoothies thicker. I thought there was a weird after taste/feel so this is probably not something I'll make often but it is a nice, healthy change.

I recorded the episode SPA DAY, and decided just this past Sunday to make it and it was refreshing. Something different, would not change a thing, I watch the video and had the simply recipe in front of me and I was done within 5mins. Giada I love you keep doing what you do.

This drink is EXCELLENT!! Giada struck gold when she created this recipe, it is SO refreshing with the tangy yogurt, sweet basil and the citrus from the simple syrup. Would be great on a hot summer day. I did only use 1 cup of the simple syrup and it ended up being the perfect amount of sweetness for me. I also wanted a thicker drink so i popped the measured out yogurt into the freezer just until it got partially frozen and thicker, about 30 minutes. Will DEFINITELY be make this again for the rest of the summer!! THANKS GIADA KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!

I think I messed up by using light yogurt instead of full fat because m smoothie looked much different than hers. Mine was completely green :

I tasted it though and the flavor was still yummy.

The only part that I really didn't like about it was that it gave a nasty basil grassy after taste. It was refreshing though.

I tried to get my husband to try some and he said it smelled like he just cut the grass (hehe

Anyways, overall not on the top of the list yet. I will try it again with the full fat yogurt and see if it gets thicker and looks a little more white and not completely green (laughing

This drink is seriously DELICIOUS! Based on previous reviews, I lessened the amount of syrup, using 12 oz. of yogurt, 1 package of basil, 1 1/2 c. ice and 1/2 cup of the syrup. It was sweet and refreshing. If you are thinking basil is just for vegetables, you are wrong. Definitely try this!

Instead of making a simple syrup, I mixed 2 packets of Stevia (a Natural sweetner--no worries for diabetics w/ a little water and poured into the blender. This smoothie was the hit of my party ! now it's requested all the time ! I've tried it w/ cilantro and tomatoes and a little chili powder along w/ the yogurt, ice and lemon (no basil for south of the border smoothie and it's also good, BUT NOTHING beats the Basil Smoothie for being refreshing !

The recipe yields 4 6 ounce servings. That is why you are confused on the measurements. Also, next time, add less simple syrup and more water with lemon to lessen the sweetness.

This drink was definitely different. It was refreshing, but just not my choice for a smoothie flavor.
