a definite summer cooler. the simple syrup with tangy yogurt and basil and lemon flavours just yummy. never thought i would like something like this. i had used home made yogurt which was a little thicker but just as wonderful. great for a crowd pleaser and weight watchers!.

This smoothie was just delcious. While a little on the sweet side, it's still better for you than drinking a soda or a having a milkshake. If you think about it, unless you are drinking the entire amount made, then you really aren't having a full cup of sugar. Giada did split it among two other women on the show. And heck, if the main ingredient is yogurt, and the only other ingredients are basil, ice and lemon, who wants to use a low-fat or fat-free yogurt!? As if.

Great smoothie. Recipe is so out of the ordinary, had to give it a try. I only used 1/4 cp. of the simple syrup. Also used freshly squezzed lemon juice instead of the zest. Giada was right it's very refreshing. Will make again!

I just served this to my family and they loved it - even my eight -year0old daughter. I only used one cup of the sweet syrup though. Next time I will try to use even less to keep the calories down.

The previous person was right, the drink ended up way too sweet. I added extra yogurt and ice, i thought it was just Ok. I don't think i 'll make it again. I did however like the idea of the simple syrup, I 'll sweeten my tea that way.

I think there is an error in this recipe, 11/2C of sugar syrup is too much to add to
the amount of yogurt called for. Also you can't end up with 1 1/2 cup yield when you add up the yogurt plus syrup. When I added a lot of water the recipe was really very good. I will make it again but use less (a lot less sugar syrup.

Did not think I would like - but had to try since I love basil. Amazing flavor - perfect combination of sweet lemon and basil. Plus not a bad treat.

Giada's Sweet Basil Smoothie is delicious! Hands down, the best smoothie I've ever had. I made it with the Fat Free Trader Joe's European Style Yogurt, but she made it on her show with the Regular (full fat variety. It was still delicious. A little too sweet for my tastes, I might use half of the simple syrup next time. Also, a thicker yogurt, like plain greek yogurt may make it more creamy. But I have no complaints- it was perfect!
