These were a lot of work, but a very creative 'fusion' recipe to make at home. I couldn't find creme fraiche at the grocery store, so I mixed a little sour cream and greek yogurt with wasabi paste. It turned out alright as a topping, but I think the mango-avocado salad made this dish. (Too bad I picked a lousy mango!

This was a bold move for me to make something so different but my husband and I both really liked it. Some advice for other users -
1. Tilapia is definitely the fish of choice for this dish. I tried flounder; bad idea! Flounder has a much stronger "fish" taste to it and this dish needs the light flavor of tilapia.
2. I didn't want to buy/make creme fraiche so I used sour cream instead to mix the wasabi in; yuck! Don't make the mistake I did. If you're going to go to the work of making these, don't use sour cream; it's too sour with the delicate flavors of everything else.
3. Someone asked if this could be made ahead of time: The wonton wrappers, no. The avacado/mango filling, yes. The tilapia, I don't see why not.
Hope that helps!

So easy and delicious! The creme fraiche dollop was such a great complement to the rest of the taco. My fiance was impressed :

BEST FISH TACOS EVER!!!! These were AMAZING! I made a few changes, I used spinach instead of arugula because they were all out at our supermarket! A keeper for sure!

I made these with cod instead of tilapia. I love the medley of flavors, they all merge perfectly together. Perfect appetizers.

I was shocked when I actually put one of these in my mouth. There are a ton of fun/different and interesting flavors and textures. There were too many for just me and my wife (2 or 3 was each our limit but this would be a great party appetizer. Nice one Giada - you rock.

So easy to make and so great tasting! I make regular tacos instead of the appetizer and add about 3 more fillets to the pan. I serve with Cilantro Slaw (off of epicurious and it is a wonderful accompaniment! You will always be asked for this recipe! Enjoy!!

Very easy to make as an appetizer for a party. It tastes great! The only thing is that you have to eat it that day. Can't really make ahead of time/ doesn't keep well over night. The shells get soggy.

These are the best fish tacos ever! My husband and I can't get enough and I can't even find fish tacos in restaurants that compare.
