Truly delicious comfort food. Such a great make-ahead dish. Can be super casual, or passed off as an elegant appetizer. Very easy- lots of fun and easy stuff for kids to help with. It disappears so fast, it's unreal. It almost has more of a quiche texture, than a bread pudding texture. If you're making this for kids, maybe leave out the garlic.

I made this for my daughter's bridal shower and everyone raved about it. I should have doubled the recipe because it disappeared so fast.

Love this dish. I add turkey or chicken breakfast sausage (cut into small chunks. Always a big hit at home and parties.

An excellent recipe to use when there is an abundance of tomatoes in your garden. It so good that I'll even make this recipe when I have to buy tomatoes from the store.

Delicious! As a result of Hurricane Irene hitting us and a generator that pooped out leaving us with no choice but to cook lots of food with our gas range and grill, we decided to use up as many perishables as possible and share with our neighbors. This helped use up some of the eggs, milk and our fresh basil. We did used Roma tomatoes and Pecorino Romano, but I can't imagine it tasting better with the original ingredients. This bread pudding made an excellent side dish to the variety of grilled meats we feasted on... the star of our impromptu post-Irene block party!

What a wonderful, easy, and change of pace recipe! I did cut it in half and used an 8x8" pan, but the "mmmmm's" at the table told it all!

I love this recipe!! I have made this for two other people who adored it as well. I have made it following the recipe exactly each time. However, today, as I was going to make this for friend who is ill, i found that I had everything but basil. So...I added a bag of fresh spinach to the tomatoes, garlic, and shallotd and cooked it down in the pan with a little grated nutmeg. It is just as delicious. What a great recipe!!!
